Default Good Photo Printers?

Do any of you have any suggestions for a good photo printer to print out digitals at home. I know all in ones generally arn't good for pictures, I'm looking for something that will be reasonaly cost effective however. I'm particuarly fond of Canon.

Default Sorry but I prefer HP

We bought the HP 5150 for about $100. The real cost is the ink. To change to print photo's you replace the black ink cartridge for a photo quality cartridge, otherwise everything else is the same. I've printed my Christmas cards on it for the past three years. With photo's you have to select a lot of options.

I've heardthat the better photo printers will have seperate colored ink catridges for eachcolor. tghat way if you print for instance a lot of blue, then you dont have to replace the whole thing.

Those arethe ones that plug directly into your camera right? I would want to print large photos thats the only turn off to the model for me. Yours can only do 4x 6 right?

My husband got me an HP Photosmart printer for Christmas and I LOVE IT! It has the 6 seperate ink cartridges, which I like because I only have to replace the empty ones. I think that the ink is pretty reasonably priced. I pay either $10 for an individual cartridge or $37 for all 6 + 150 sheets of 4x6 photo paper. The printer itself I think cost a little over $200. I am not sure what your budget is, but I love it and I think it is well worth the money. It also comes with some really neat software for making cards, calendars, flyers, etc. You should check it out.

I've been thinking about investing in one of these as well. We have a color Epson, which is a magnificent printer (and you do have to buy seperate cartridges for each color - but I actually find that to be more cost efficient), but for photos, it's just not what I'm looking for. I would love to have one that connects directly to my digital camera. I have a Kodak Easyshare camera with the docking bay, so I'm guessing I need to go with a Kodak photo printer?

I am not so sure. Mine has four completely memory card slots to accomodate several different types of cameras. You should check into that. I have a Nikon and can insert my memory card directly into my printer and print photos.

I have three HP's and I love them - they are all different. I have an all in one HP and it prints absolutely beautifully, so I'm not sure where the misconception is on that.
Epson also has some awesome printers. I love them too.

That's true. I just realized that I only use that docking base to recharge my camera. Whenever I put the photos on the computer, I always take the memory card out and insert it into the card slot on my computer. It's just more convenient for me for some reason, so it makes sense that a printer that allows that feature would be a good match as well.
