Default Good TV Shows in 2008

Anybody excited about new shows this year? Between the writer's strike and the influx of all of the reality competition shows (top chef, biggest loser, etc.)..i'm really ready for something new and original on TV.

I really enjoyed watching Letterman this week. Having the writers with him results in a better show. I checked out Leno, and it was really boring, but Letterman was back to form.

I like that nutty Scottish guy who is on after him too.

My kids like Mythbusters too.

I watched Celebrity Apprentice last night, and I can't get too excited about it. I think Gene Simmons recognized that he screwed up last night and sort of fell on his sword rather than get anyone else fired. It was boring.

For all the glam, this just doesn't have the pizzazz that the competition gets when they have people who are not famous.

Omarosa's back, and she's the best of the bunch. She's actually playing a game.

I'm thrilled Jon Stewart and Colbert are back on! I was going kinda nutty w/o their funny takes on the political races.

I'm still finding lots of show to watch on some days. Cable is coming out w/ new episodes of some of my shows. My Friday night faves are back w/ new episodes: Monk and Psych. Psych is soo funny. Reno 911 is also back w/ new episodes on Comedy Central. JOn&Kate plus 8 is also new.

On reg network, the Biggest Loser couples and Amazing Race are good this season. I'm hoping Jericho will be good when it comes back. Of new shows, DH and I loved Big Bang Theory. Shame they didn't have many taped before the strike.

Masterpiece theater on PBS is having a Jane Austin fest w/ adaptations of all 6 books. A few are even NEW adaptations. Last week's was a new version of one of my favorite books of all time, Persuasion. I didn't like this new adaptation. I liked the Masterpiece Theater production that was released in theaters in the 90s MUCH better. I was so disappointed. I think Mansfield Park or the Northanger (sp?) Abbey is next.

A show in syndication that I have come to adore is Corner Gas on WGN at midnight weeknights. It is a little Canadian comedy set in rural Western Canada w/ quirky folks.
It is cute and sweet. Humor is found in very every day situations. Plus the great accents. WGN advertises the show alot. Doesn't really strike me as a show that Chicagoans would love--big city dwellers watching slow podunk life? But I like it!
