Default Graduation Gifts

College and High school Graduations are just around the corner. Does anyone have any good ideas for college or high school graduation presents? What were some of your favorite graduation gifts (besides cash of course)

One the favorite gifts I got (as a high school graduate), was a sturdy basket that had all sorts of laundry stuff in it. I would say, not towels, because I got a ton of those! I also think that gift cards to restaurants/movies are a great idea - most college kids don't have a lot of extra cash laying around for that kind of thing.

When I graduated from high school, I was going right off to college, so I appreciated getting things I didn't know I needed, like towels and pots and pans and a comforter and sheets for my bed. Also, a great gift was a rolling suitcase that was carry-on size for all the trips back and forth from home to school.

I agree with Laura on the rolling suitcase thing. I went home a lot and it sure would have been nice to have one of those (I had something but not as good). You can get pretty good deals on those at places like Target and Academy.

A savings bond or some stocks or some other long-term investment thing is a fun gift, too. It's nice to start off adulthood with a little nest egg, even if it is little at first. Someone gave me one, and I felt so....adult!
