Default Grandparents' Names

I'm from a French-Canadian family and called my grandparents Mamere and Papere. My son uses those same names for my parents now and he calls my husband's parents Gramma & Grampa. Everybody has a special name for each of their grandparents and most parents have to decide what their children will call their grandparents. Sharing how these names come about could be really interesting.
What did you call your grandparents? What do your children call their grandparents and why?
