Question Green Homes

Does anyone know anything about "green homes"? I have recently been hearing about indoor air pollution and the many problems with modern homes (i.e. the chemicals in carpet, paint, building materials, etc.). I am in the market for a new home, but I want to choose a healthy one if at all possible. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Green Homes are sort of a new-millennium way of protecting people from a potentially dangerous environment. You mention air pollution in new homes, and this is precisely one of the areas that the creators of Green Homes attempt to address. Built with the intention of creating indoor atmospheres that are sensitive to air quality, lighting and other important concerns, these state-of-the-art homes attempt to create the best possible living environment with both aesthetics and health in mind, using ecologically sound materials. There are numerous web sites that discuss Green Homes. Just type in the topic Green Homes on any major search engine, and you'll find a wealth of information. Best of luck with your research.

The Seattle Times did a spread last week on green homes. One thing I think is cute are the green rooftops that are planted with grasses, moss and wildflowers. I've seen them in operation at the Cedar River watershed in WA. Roofs require extra support to have them installed.
