Default Growth Spurts

How long do they usually last? I think DS is going through one and about the last 4 nights he hasn't slept through the night 9:30p-4a when he was sleeping 9:30p-7:30a and he is constantly feeding. He will will also latch on and then pull off while taking my nipple with him. It hurts bad, I about jumped out of the chair when he did it the other night. But, he will be on and off, on and off, I will just burp and put him down thinking he is done and he immediately sucks on his fist like he's hungry, slurping and smacking sounds and all, but after a few minutes he starts to cry. So, I try to feed him again thinking he is still hungry and it starts all over. I feel like he gets maybe 2 "good" feedings, when he stays latched and I feel a let-down, other than that it's just all over the place. Do you think it's just a growth spurt? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Gabby went through the nipple pulling at that age, i think it's a game to them, everytime she did it i would put her down (just like if she had bit me)... this is also about te time of a growth spurt

Nipple pulling and growth spurts can be simultaneous because in their minds, your milk isn't flowing fast enough, strong enough, and they want more, more, more. ( Or it could be a game--technically I don't know since I've never asked a baby why they do that.) The best way to stop it is to hold the baby more carefully.

They can last from 4 days to a few weeks.

I wrote this last night and of course, he slept through the night. He slept until 8:30a! It scared me, I realized he wasn't awake yet and hopped out of bed to check on him and he's just laying there looking at the ceiling! Crazy kid, he also ate better today too. Funny how you ask something and it's better the next day. Just like going to the dr, the cough was there for 2 days and as soon as you walk into the clinic, they don't cough at all.

They secretly know this you know. I'm sure they do it deliberately!
