Grrrrr, long vent
I don't typically do this but a combo of the heat, crappy amount of sleep last night and a cranky baby has driven me to the edge.
So Erin (who is 11) has a best friend, same age. The family is originally from the "big city" and moved North to live in the burbs. This child gets everything (and I do mean everything) she asks for. Usually in the same week she asks.
She doesn't act spoiled, meaning she doesn't act like a spoiled brat or anything. She is actually pretty darn polite.
But, my big beef is that Erin has certain rules that she follows at home like picking up after herself (putting her dishes in the sink, throwing things away if they are trash, etc.). Her friend on the other hand is waited on hand and foot. She has absolutely no chores or responsibility what so ever. I also get the impression she is not told no nor disciplined (basically she does whatever she wants).
So, she is sleeping over here last night and at 11pm we told them lights out. Well, apparently this is too early for her and she decides to keep Erin up until DH finally lost it on them at 2:30.
Then this morning after breakfast I found her cereal bowl, spoon and juice glass still on the table. When I POLITELY asked her to help me out and put it in the sink she stood there and stared right through me. Almost like I was speaking to her in a foreign language.
So all day I have been dealing with mess after mess from her (apparently she is not all that tidy). It is gonna be a LONG time till she sleeps over again.
OK, rant over
