Default Woe is Me

I have a wedding to attend tomorrow. My very best friend's sister is marrying her sweetheart of two years. My problem is that I HATE weddings! Yes, I know! Awful, huh? Words can't even describe how depressed I get. I cry about my loneliness and gain at least 10lbs. for a week afterwards. I'm 27, never been married, and just don't see it in my near future. If at all! I'll be a lonely old lady living in a stinky house with 500 cats and graffiti on the front of my house that says "Old Hag!"

See?!? This is what happens when I have a wedding to go to. I'm very happy for my friend, don't get me wrong. She's a great person and that's the only reason I'm going. Then no more weddings for at least 2 years. I need recovery time!

Wear your favorite dress. New makeup or something unusual for jewelry.

Eat your favorite food at the reception, and dance your butt off.

Look at it as an occasion to party, nothing more. And really, think for a minute about how the fun for the couple is about to begin - once the honeymoon is over - real life starts - and you have a head start on that, so when your day comes, you will enjoy it all the more. It may not come for a while, but it will come.

I'm pretty sure the majority of people who are 27 are not married, I must say though, crazy cat ladies are brilliant as long as they don't smell of pee/

I am sorry that it is hard. I understand it (although my problem isn't with weddings) I am that way with a few things....but hope to resolve that issue soon. 's Try to think of it as a time to party....and don't listen during the ceremony! Pretend to listen but I wouldn't listen....just focus on having fun if you can. I know it's much easier said than done! Who knows what is in your future? I have no clue...but don't lose all hope. More 's!!

I would have to agree with Kara-- Pretend to listen during the ceremony, but don't actually listen! They always get me down, as well. My sister in law is supposed to be getting married next month, but she and her fiance called off the wedding about a month ago.. she's been to a couple weddings in the last month (with a couple more to come yet this summer!) and she says she only goes for support.. and to party of course! But she totally shuts out the ceremony, no matter what.

Do what you need to do! And when it's over, come back and tell us how it went!

Hey thanks! It was ok. No, it was horrible, but that's ok. I wound up having to take dd, which was a nightmare in itself. She's barely two, and I'm sure alot of you realize that it was near impossible to have her sit still at all! My mom apologized for that. And...

Guess what?! My mom and dad surprised me with tickets to a concert tonight!!! Can you believe that? They said they'd watch Alyssa and I can stay out late. So hopefully I will have a much deserved night out. I have been out only 4 times (adult nights) since Alyssa was born. Last time I got out was Feb 9th. I SOOOO need this!
