Angry Harris Teeter Newport News Customer Service

I was at the Harris Teeter Newport News (where I normally shop) and was stopped at the checkout lane by the customer service desk manager. I had given them 6 formula checks that were expired last time I was in there so they confronted me about it. I apologized and offered to pay the $6. They accepted. Then they proceeded to examine all my coupons as if they were counterfiet! Store manager came over after I had had enough and was firm borderline rude and said I committed coupon fraud. My complaint is they have my info, called me by my name and thought it was good customer service to blindside me at the checkout! Harris Teeter has my info they should have called me at home and we could have rectified the situation with me being mortified in public. Thank goodness I was not in there at rush hour for more people quawk at me. Brian Rezmer the store manager made me feel like a criminal. Anyone else had problems like this?? I love Harris Teeter! By the way I made sure they got my check for $6 on the way out!! Didn't spend $$ on baby formula either! Nor the $159.99 backyard swing I was looking at! Thinking of taking back that Christmas merry go round I bought on clearance.

Wow, that really sucks... I don't blame you for being frustrated. I think I would call H-T corporate and complain. That's just wrong...

I'm sorry that happened to you! I got accused of "abusing the system" back when some stores were allowing 2 coupons on BOGO's and some were not. I'm so glad they solved that problem and got a consistent policy in this area. The night manager at the newer store on Falls of the Neuse Rd. in Raleigh was just so nasty about it all (even though I didn't know what the policy of their store actually was because I was there the week before and 2 coupons on BOGOs were okay) that I haven't been back to that store since. I will drive further to go to a HT that has awesome customer service and wants me and my coupons! I think you deserve an apology and a very big gift card for the public humiliation they caused you! Is there another HT that isn't too far away in your area? If so, I would not go back to that store. If you don't have another HT, can you go at a different time of the day (or night) when that horrible manager isn't there? I know you shouldn't have to change your habits because of them. Just throwing out suggestions. Good luck and let us know what customer service says.

I know this manager. He used to be an assistant manager at the Virginia Beach store on Baltic Avenue. He came up to me one day about 2 months ago and told me they don't accept military coupons. I asked him to explain since they accept competitors coupons and he told me that they only accept competitors coupons that actually say "manufacturers coupon" on it. He said they don't get credit for store coupons. However, I went to another store and was told by a manager that they do accept military coupons. Needless to say I don't use military coupons at the Newport News store anymore. He can be mean when he wants to be. I choose to avoid him altogether. It's sad because this HT is the only one on the peninsula. You have to drive through the tunnel to Norfolk to get to another one.
He did tell me something I didn't know. He said they accept rainchecks from other stores. I was surprised. I never heard of that before.
