I live in Ohio. In the Canton area (south of Akron), as of yesterday the GE's in that area are no longer doubling ANY coupons!!
No warning, no explanation. They just left the doubling blurb off the front of this week's ads.
Our Tops Markets closed in December 2006. Sometime in 2007 Tops will be totally closed in PA & NY, to my knowledge. Here in Ohio, we have yet to have a competitor step in to take over their stores. (other than the ones GE moved into) With no other stores offering double coupons, we were afraid this would come to pass.
So far it is only in one area, but consider yourselves forewarned! If they can do it in the Canton area, what's to stop them from doing it in YOUR area?!
We are starting a writing and phone campaign. They have to know that people won't shop there. You can bet they won't lower their ridiculously high prices to offset the difference that double coupons cost them!!
Please take a minute to call or email them before they make a change in YOUR area!!
