Default Hello Ladies... Leg Cramps

Hi everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for leg cramps. I had a really bad one this morning. It woke me up and my leg is still sore and weak. I hate calling the Dr. about something so mondane (spelling?). Any and all advice would be wonderful. In the mean time I'll start surffing the web. I'll post any info I find.

They are very common and normal during pregnancy and there is not much to do for them but to walk them off.

When I went through a phase where I had them every night, I would wrap my legs in ace bandages before going to bed ( ), and sometimes that would help.

Yeah, don't bother calling the Doc. Leg cramps are super common. They hurt, and they suck. And sometimes the feeling lingers for days in your muscles! I know that not drinking enough water can contribute to the cramps, so try drinking more water. It may mean a couple extra trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but you can never drink too much water! And the ace bandages is a good idea!

Mine always strike when I am sleeping and try stretching out. They wake me up right away and I always JUMP OUT OF BED like a mad woman, flailing around in pain, and I walk it off. That gets your blood circulating. Walking around makes mine go away within about a minute or so.

I've also heard that bananas help because of the potassium they have in them.

My grandma says that bananas help.....but i donno if thats true. Bananas also will make baby active. At the hospital they have these things they usually put on bigger people's legs after surgery...it keeps your blood flowing. They squeeze your legs every few minutes.....I donno if they have something like that you can use at home but I'd ask the doc about it.

Thanks Ladies. My sons teacher told me to try Bananas (I happen to HATE bananas) I'm more of a potatoe person then a sweets person. I sleep with bottles of water in bed with me so everytime I wake up I drink some. Lots of bathroom trips . I'll try the Ace bandage tomorrow night. I'll be baking all night tonight for Kenny party at school tomorrow. I can't believe he's 5 on Saturday. The time FLIES. Well enough rambling. Have a good night everyone.

google potassium and find ways to get it into your system. I believe the muscle cramps are caused by a lack of potassium, this is why bananas are helpful. I too don't like bananas... good luck!
