Question Help

aiyana is showing signs of not wanting a bottle anymore! i split up her bottles frm her meals figuring she was getting to full but its still the same, she will only take 3 or 4oz and thats pretty much forced in a way since she keeps pushing it away. i know a baby girl that weaned herself at 10mons and the dr said she could have yogurt and softer cheese but aiyana is only 7 1/2mons. i have to call her dr to make her 9mon appt on monday but any suggestions till then?

persist if you can if not just go with the alternatives. Tristan rejected milk at 13m and still won't drink it, hopefully aiyana isn't as stubborn

How about a sippy cup Jess? You could put the BM or Formula in it... she may take to it well as she's really independent

Molly did exactly the same thing around that age she actually weaned herself off the breast because of it and refused to take bottle or sippy cups with milk in. For the next year, she lived on cheese and Fromage frais anything i could feed her to get her quota of calcium into her.. I used to give her the bottled water with added calcium.

It wasn't till she was started eating a normal diet when she was around 2 she got to the right weight for her height till then she looked so skinny I constantly got comments.

Keep trying with the milk some times they go off sucking when they are teething.

I'm sort of in the same situation. Kaylee will take the formula no problem but she seems to not be liking the bottle. Thing is I can't get her to use a sippy cup at all. She'll drink juice from a sippy cup but not the formula. I don't get it. And she's 9 months now and I don't know how to get her off the bottle by the time she's 1.

My dd was trying to do the same thing, so I started giving her a bottle when she woke up in the middle of the night. I know I'm not supposed to, but she'll take 7-8oz that time so its worth it to me. I just brush her gums afterwards and put her back in bed. I get less sleep, but I know that she's getting enough calcium.

I also wanted to add-if she prefers an open cup, that's great! Why not encourage that instead of a sippy cup? My dd does great drinking from an open cup.

Good luck!

Will she take milk or formula from a sippy? If she does than I wouldn't worry about her not wanting a bottle. In fact I would be thrilled!! My ds is 18 months and he is so attached to his bottle he won't drink milk without it.
