Last night the cash register tape got stuck and I spent 90 min at store and on the phone with so-called customer service. Cashier was very accomodating and tried her best; manager much less so and she did not want to deal with customer service, whom I insisted on calling from store (after reading an acct here where husband lost ECBs).. Cashier saw the register said 8 coupons were going to print and then it jammed on the first one. Current 3 ECB deals were $19.29. CS said they would not see anything before Monday, but suggested a gift card for the amount due on current promotions and then would "try to figure" the rest out Monday. CS told mgr to write a gift card for the 19.29, mgr kept arguing that it would show her short for the day, but then agreed. Then when mgr came to do override to do gift card, it didn't work the way she wanted, she refused and said they would "try" to resolve it today. The store is also an hour away. And, last night's mgr is not working, and referring it to another mgr. Cashier will be there to explain situation to new mgr.
Have to say the cashier was wonderful and really tried her best, but the mgr was not accomodating and CS seemed to be confused at best.
Any ideas before I start this today would be appreciated!

Have them just give you a gift card, for what was owed on the ECB. Don't worry about any of the other ECB ( the crappy one we alway get with are ECB) Just stay cool and smile, and tell them this is what you want.

The problem is that the store would not give me a gift card (I was probably not clear). And the other 5 ECB's are not "crappy" ones. I am trying to figure it out now, but I think there is at least $25 of other ECBs (maybe more) that hadn't printed when the new system just started and I had over 10 at one time. Tells us all we best keep careful track what we had. It seems to me ... that once the ECB prints now ... there is not back up info. Thanks for answering tho!

By crappy ones, she probably meant the CRT ones (like $1 off Roc, or whatever...)

How to resolve it? Thats <IS> a tough one. Honestly, cut your losses. Get what you can (a g/c for $19.29 or whatever...) and chalk it up. There'll be other good deals, that you <DO> want to get, and try to fly under the radar, kwim?

MONTHS ago, I KNEW I had ECB's coming (pre-new ECBs...) and the machine would 'shut down' on me, when the ECBs were to print (and yeah... $80 on one, kwim?)

I had to call CSR, or get the mgr involved. That was the end of flying low.

But, if I lose a few dollars on the deal, you gotta just cut your loss. At some point, while you're fishing, you'll snag a rock on the bottom, and the hook will be stuck. best bet is cut the line, and put a new hook on.

Now, if it's $20+ in ECB's that you're losing... That could be another story.. But $5? Nah. (just arbitrary numbers...)

Is it an option to return the items you bought? Maybe rebuy? If you do the return, have them use the procedure for returning without a receipt. They should give you a moneycard for the full value of the items you bought without considering coupons and ecb you might have used. It might not solve the issue completely, but at least you get something. My understanding is that they can reset the older ECB, just not the new instant ones. Maybe call cs and ask.

it happened to me once and i returned the items immediately. By the way, i meant a complete return. If you had trouble with that store, may be another store was an option ?

Have you looked at your account online to see which OLD ecb's would have printed last night? (Should see new expiration dates beside those). I had several from the old system and they were still able to reset those. If you can figure out which ones, you can call and have those old ecb's reset.

The old ECBs fall off the online account the night they are printed now so she would have had to check the same day (and perhaps copy the account onto a word document which is what I do to keep track).

I had 2 old ECB's print this week, they are still showing in my account with a new expiration date of 5/10/07.

Current update and advice for others:
I just got off telephone with CS and am going to receive $39 in cpns in 2 days. Bottom line is, according to the current CS rep who sounded competent, IF the ECBs for current promotions do not print instantly, they can no longer be reset. The store is supposed to issue a money card for the amount then ... if something happens to the ECB The old ECBs can still be reset. I called yesterday and was told to call bnack today, b/c the info on the 4/12 sale doesn't get transmitted until today.
I had 19.29 in current ECB promotions that should have print and $19 in combined pre- 4/1 promotions - 4 tems. They are issuing a ECB for $20 for the combined 19.29 that will print at cash reg in 2 days and are resetting the 4 older ECBs that totaled $19. A total of $39.
Hopefully ... all is well in 2 days. Am posting this now as gen info if it happens to others. Thanks for everyone's advice and support.
