Default Help! I think dd has the measles?

Can a child who has been vaccinated for measles, still get them? I really think Alyssa has a mild form of them from what I've read up on the internet, but the only thing it says is that the side effect rash from the shot isn't contagious. Not if she can get them later on.

My mom said she could be allergic to the sun, but I doubt that because she spent the whole day in the sun before, and was barely out in it yesterday.

the rash started on her legs and arms and now its spreading to her neck, face and chest. She hasn't eaten anything different, and no new detergents or soaps.

I will take her to the doctor tomorrow, but if it is measles, do I need to take her to emergency? I read there's no treatment for it except fluids, rest and tylenol for the fever.

Let me get my photo thing hooked up and I'll come back with some pictures.

Yes you can get the measles if you have been vaccinated. The vaccines do not work on everyone. That is one of the drawbacks, people get a false sense of security and are not always immune.
But, I don't think it is the meases. The rash should come after the fever. But, I would call the doctor for sure Monday morning. If she develops a high fever, then yes go to emergency. I really don't think it is the measles.
Sometimes kids develop an allergy to a food they were fine with before. Is there anything she ate in the last 4 days that she hasn't had lately? (Peanut, shellfish, or any other typical allergen???) Was she around a lot of dust?? (I broke out into a terrible rash as a child from dust.----it only happened a few time, but boy did it freak out my mom----and got me out of dusting for a long time )
I wouldn't worry too much, measles is rare nowadays, and she was vaccinated, so most likely is immune.
How long ago did she get the mmr? Was it recent?
I hope she feels better. I'll keep her in my prayers.

I hope it's not measles. I'll be praying for you both. Could it be a rash from sitting on the grass? I sometimes come up with a rash on my legs when I've been sitting in some types of grass, was she crawling about or playing on the grass? I hope it goes away soon

You need to recieve MMR twice to be vaccinated against all three illnesses.

The rash is in the right areas, is it like small red pimples? These can fade and turn grey after a little while and can feel rough. Has she had a cold recently? As it is the first sign, especially when followed by a rash. Keep her away from all pregnant women and other children until she has had blood tests and results back. She will need to go to the doctors because every case has to be identified so outbreaks can be closely followed. Also, do not lower her temperature, the body causes a fever to occur as it boosts the immune system so your body is more efficient at fighting the pathogen.

Well i took her to the doctor. Samual, he didn't do a blood test...just swabbed her throat, which she HATED. Of course...it didn't look pleasant to me either.

He said it might just be hives, but because I was giving her tylenol for a fever a few nights back, he wants to be sure. She also has a right ear infection, and is pretty cranky today.

I took a photo of just her arm and uploaded it today. Sorry its not more but I am lazy and don't feel like water making.

Its now spread pretty much everywhere, and if this is a new allergy, then I just can't figure out what's causing it. Its not itchy to her, and I remember hives to be pretty itchy.

Let's hope she's ok. And yes until then she is staying away from pretty much everyone until we get this figured out.

Thanks for the well wishes!

ETA: She had her measles shot at 18 months.

Looks a bit like the rash you get with slapped cheek/fifth's disease. Josh was covered with it but his face wasn't very red when he got it.
