My son is great with math, but when it comes to reading he balks. He just finds it laborious to sound out each word. He is in 1st grade so learning to read is the subject stressed in school. His teacher wants him to read 15-20 minutes five days a week. He hates it. He loses all meaning of the story because he has to concentrate on sounding out each word. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the process easier?
