Default Help! New Weight Loser

Hi everyone, I am embarking on a weight lost goal for the first time in at least 15 years. I'm blogging about it here and can use all of the help I can get.

When you started did you find it better to keep track of the numbers on the scale or ignore them and just concentrate on healthy habits and how your clothes fit? We don't even have a scale yet but I'm thinking that I should probably get one. But then I think that it might be discouraging to see the numbers. What do you think?

You can see my first post here. http://weight-loss.families.com/blog...t-loss-journey

You need to get a scale. And only weigh yourself a few times a week.

Many people see an initial loss of water, and the weight appears to be coming right off - then the next day its up a pound or two - then down, then up....You have a better idea of your progress if you only weigh a few times a week.

Thanks Janet! I have been trying to judge by my clothes, and it doesn't seem like there is a lot of progress. I am eating better and exercising well, so there has got to be some change, right?

Janet, I agree with your information. We can judge our weight by our clothes. Many people are trying to reduce their weight. Many of the people are in diet to reduce the weight. While reducing weight, health is important. Maintaining calories is important for good health. I have used real6packs e-book. Real6packs e-book containing easy steps to follow for maintain body fitness.

Great blog post! I would suggest NOT using a scale. Your weight will fluctuate and can actually increase if you replace fat with muscle. It can also change if you're incorporating a lot more water in your diet. The mirror is a much better gauge of how well you're doing, not the scale! Good luck!

As the frugal blogger this thought process might help/encourage you.

I often think of losing weight in the same way I look at saving money. Both endeavors require sacrifice, postponing short-term pleasure for long-term gain, and require self-discipline. Losing weight and saving money are long battles and not sprints; occasional "passes" are allowed if you budget for them and get back on track quickly.

GOOD LUCK!

Hello, I think you are on the right track with blogging and documenting how well you are going.

I agree that you should weigh yourself regularly to motivate you and also I would measure yourself around your waist and arms or where ever you think you will noticably lose weight. I lose weight off my thighs and always find this a good indication.

Good luck

Sounds like you are off to a great start -- good luck! And definitely agree with Janet -- you should get a scale and weigh 2-3 times a week, no more.
