Default Help with Birthday Party

I'm a single Dad with a three year old looking for some advice on planning his birthday party. I'm looking to have a small gathering of 8-10 people. He doesn't seem to have one preference on what he thinks is his favorite cartoon or show. What are the hot items right now? Also, since I don't have alot of time to shop for this stuff, is there any place you might suggest to order the items from? I've heard of a few website for party supplies but want to know what other people have for preferences and why. Price, shipping, etc...
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the board, Spottedsharklove!

Do you have a local party store with lots of party items?

What about the local Dollar Tree store? Everything is $1.00 or less and they have lots of neat items for party bags, matching plates/napkins/cups/plastic tablecloths/plastic silverware. Party hats, party horns, simple decorations, party bags, & plenty of items to place in the party bags.

Themes could be "Cars" (the movie) (this was a big one for Valentine's Day last month),
Blues Clues,
Thomas the Train,
Scooby Doo,
BigBird,
Winnie the Pooh,
Hot Wheels cars,
Tonka Trucks,
Firetrucks,
Finding Nemo,
Sponge Bob Squarepants,
Batman,
Spiderman,
Superman,
or just Happy Birthday.

Those seem to be the top favorites.

Even your local Walmart can make a theme cake,
ice cream,
party favors & paper products
drinks, etc.

There is a big party store online, which I can not think of at this late hour.
Someone else will probably post it for you!

What about a balloon themed party. A game could be sitting on a blown up baloon and whom ever pops theirs first wins. You could send home those big balloons you sit on and bounce, as a party favor. Make balloon hats and animals http://www.balloon-animals.com/videos.php This site has videos that teach you how to make some. The easiest are hats, swords (for boys) and flowers for girs ( it's just a sword but with another baloon twisted at the top.)

I hope that shows up like a link, I'm not too good at this.

I almost forgot to add, you decorate the cake with balloons( made out of frosting) also.
