I'm Das.....I've been a single mum with my son for most of his life.I left the dad weeks after our son was born & is now 17 yrs old.I have had boyfriends but lived on our own & thank goodness I did.

Hi All , I am a single dad of three wonderful kids 15 ,12,11. I am acutally in a 50/50 custody situation but spend more time being dad then when I was married it seems. I always tell my freinds or who ever is considering divorce that in most cases it is not worth it. You end up doing all the same things you did before only it takes twice the effort and coordination. I never wanted to be divorced and did everything within my power to save it. I knew it would devistate my kids ..and it has had some very challenging effects indeed. Luckily for me I am self employed and have been succesful enough to have time to work with them. On my weeks I work half days , drop them at school and pick them up ,do homework ,cooking and all the running around. I coach football, volunteer at the school every Thursday and spend as much time as possible with them.
On weeks that they are at their Moms I work long days and cram buisness in. Many cases I still do alot of running for her to accomadate her shedule , dentist appointements , doctors visits , school funtions and sports activities. It just would be alot easier if we were still together and could just do it like we used to.
Anyway , I love my kids .. I love being a Dad ! It is the one thing that in life that I feel I do well.
Looking forward to chating with others on here who find themselves in the same position ...

There are quite a few single moms on here, they just dont talk about it quite so much - I raised my boys as a divorced mom, single for most of their lives. They are adults now. Not an easy job!!!

Hi my name is Julie.I am a single mum with two active sons(age six and three and a half.).I find it very challanging being a single mum as I have only been doing this since April 2008.My eldest boy is very talkactive and he has a wondeful imagination,he gets lost in his pretend games a lot.My youngest is a puzzle I am still attempting to work out ..He has speech and language delays and shows no interest in toilet training.Although I've got to say his temper tantrums have eased a lot over the last six months ? now I can understand most of what he says,he sees a speech therapist once a week and is on the waiting list for Early Intervention(March??)
...I myself like to paint and draw and listen to music .I love to read but don't get much time .So I download the books to cd and then listen as I clean etc
