Question high blood pressure?

so up until 2 weeks ago, my blood pressure has been fine, everytime i got it checked the mid-wife said it was perfect! well 2 weeks ago at my appt. it was 140/90 so i had to get the preclampsia(sp?) test, and all of my tests from then came back fine. well yesterday was my appointment and my blood pressure was 124/80. and i had to go back and get the tests run again. everything from the hospital came back fine last night, and i'm doing the 24 hour urine test now. but if all the tests come back negative for preclampsia (sp?), what else could it be? also...the dr. told me that right now they are estimating parker will be at least 8 lbs when born. has anyone naturally delivered an 8 lb. baby or do they normally just do a c-section? thanks!

140/90 is pretty high, so it's understandable that they had you go through the testing at that point; however, if your tests came back fine, I'm not sure why they'd do testing for a reading of 124/80, unless your BP is usually much lower. Sounds like your dr is just playing it safe, nothing wrong with that lol. And you certainly can deliver an 8lb baby (I was over 9lbs and my mom managed me lol); I can't see them opting for a c-section unless there's a specific reason they think you can't deliver. Good luck, keep us posted on the test results!

I know lots of people who have had babies much bigger than 8 pounds and delivered with out a c-section.

I don't know what else the problem could be if all of your tests come back negative for preeclampsia except your BP is high. Maybe you were stressed that day? The 24 hour urine test should tell them a lot. My BP and that test are the two tests that are out of whack. My other tests have all been fine but they still classify me as preeclamptic so it may come down to your protein levels.

Don't worry about an 8 lb. baby. I delivered my daughter vaginally and she was 9 lb. 13 oz. You can do it.

Average weight for a baby in the US is 8lbs 2oz! Seems like babies are getting bigger and bigger every year!

thanks =] i wasn't concerned about the 8lb baby, but my great aunt was freaking out about it, so it kinda gotta me wondering, haha. what's really weird about the high blood pressure is that 2 weeks ago i had all the symptoms of preclampsia. swelling, headaches, nausia, spotty vision....but then all my tests came back fine, and now i haven't had any of those symptoms since. i'll find out monday what's going on!?

Wow, you did have all the symptoms, glad to hear they stopped! Definitely sounds like your dr is taking the right steps in being a bit extra cautious. Hopefully everything comes back fine on Monday!
