Default Home Business Help

Hi all --
My name is Beth Sawyer and I'll be working with Michele Blandino on creating informative articles for the Home Business board. I'm exciting to be part of families.com. It's great to see a resource that supports the growth and strength of families.
I've owned my own freelance home business for three years. It's been exciting and full of ups and downs. I'll share some of my experience, and provide information on making your home business a success.
If you have a topic you'd like covered -- I'd love to hear about it. I look forward to finding out more about your home business plans! Thanks, Beth

Looking forward to reading it!
What sort of home business do you have? I have done family child care, sold Avon, and now have an online virtual assistant business. Would love resources for business plans and structure, as I am planning on incorporating soon.

Default Stay tuned ...

I started my home business experience planning on pursuing the crafts industry. I'm an avid beader and have been making bead jewelry for years. While I was getting started, I supplemented my business by doing a little writing on the side (my old career). It turns out that the jewelry craft business wasn't right for me (I'll talk about why in my blog), but the freelance writing business took off. Just goes to show you that your plan isn't always the right plan!
Thanks for your response -- one of the topics Michele and I plan to cover are developing business plans, marketing plans, the various types of business organization (LLC, Partnerships, Sole Proprietor, etc.)
We'd love to hear any and all topics that you have questions about. Look forward to hearing from you!

Wow. My problem is finding the 'little writing on the side' to do. I've been writing since my age was in the single digits but never had a job where it was listed as part of the job. It became part of the job once I started doing it, but a look at the ole employment history doesn't really reflect that.

What do you recommend? I own both of Peter Bowerman's books but, well, just can't get past the cold calling thing. There HAS to be another way, right? (please say yes!)
