Default Homeschooling 101

OK, I have been REALLLLLLY considering doing this. The school district that I live in is very overcrowded and I truly believe that my kids are not getting the best education they could be getting. I have talked to several parents at my son's karate school that do this and they highly recommend it.

Now, for my concerns

1) I never did all that hot in school (basically just enough to get me through, I was lazy). How can I teach my kids?

2) They keep trying to give DS an IEP saying he needs "special attention". IMO he just needs attention period. With class sizes in the high 20's to low 30's and no aides he really has no one to go to for help. Would home schooling him be a big mistake?

3) I'm afraid I won't have enough patience to teach them.

4) What about time....is there ever enough of it?

I just want to make sure I think this all the way through before I move to the next step. And, ummmm....what exactly would my next step be

If you made it though all my rambling...you deserve a prize!
