Default How dare she...

While Shopping at Walmart the sales lady asked me RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY GIRLS "How much did you pay for them?" Heavenly then asked me "Did cost I $9.95 like the pizza’s?" (Oh, how I wish all the Adoption fees was just $9.95.) After explaining to my children that it was the PAPER WORK and not THEM that I paid for, I told the woman off then went to the manager. Who knows me very well since I shop there all the time she apologized for the rude woman and gave her a warning and gave me a gift card. .
It really ticks me off when people ask me crap like that although I should get used to it I mean this isn’t the only time someone has asked me something stupid or rude and it won’t be the last.
Thanks for listing to my vent

I worked with a woman who gave me a reply to questions which shouldn't be answered. "why do you Ask" simple and effective..good luck and remember for every rude person, we hope there are 5 nice ones.

That is so rude of her to say that-especially in front of the girls.

Sorry you had to endure such ignorance! I am dreading the day the first person that makes a comment like that in front of my daughter.

Did the clerk know that your girls were adopted? Because sometimes that is a joking way of saying your kids are cute and no harm is intended. People used to say that to my mom all the time. "How much did you pay for those gorgeous children"? and to me "sweetheart, where did you buy those big brown eyes?" It's a coy way for some people to tell you the children are beautiful.

If you and your girls are visibly different, like a different race, that's another matter!

I had a daycare family in my family daycare home years ago who faced stupid comments. The parents were white jewish people, and the baby was from Korea. They belonged to a support group for adoptive families of Korean babies. One white couple had the experience of wheeling the baby around in a stroller, and a nosy elderly woman stopped them to ""oooo, look at the pretty baby..." Then she noticed the baby was Korean. She said to the parents in a very demanding way "WHERE DID YOU GET THAT BABY?"

"She came with the stroller" the husband replied frostily, and they walked away.

Yeah she knew they was adopted it’s hard to miss I’m white and they are all Asian.
I love that reply from the family. I was once asked if my then four month old spoke English I said no she speaks baby then burst out laughing I could not believe someone would actually ask me if my four month old spoke English. Some questions are so stupid that you have to laugh at them but others such as the one I got above are just plain rude and should not be asked in front of my kids.

No, that is just an outright stupid question! Especially in front of the kids.

People used to walk up to my daycare group in the park and ask the asian and asian american kids "where are you from? Are you chinese are japanese?" The honest answer with all the koreans around here was "no". One little boy went to great lengths to explain "I Merican. Mommy's merican, Daddy's merican, and I merican too." When the dummy pressed for where were his grandparents from, he answered "Queens NY"! We had one child in the group whose family was korean, she spoke little english at the time, and he appointed himself to "translate" for her, even though he spoke no Korean and only a little Chinese.

As for the Korean girl who was adopted, she just would say "No!" very loudly to these questions. One day she finally followed it up by saying "I'm Jewish!"

I don't know if it is that people are stupid about transracial adoptions, or just stupid about asians and asian americans.

There was one boy in the group who was adopted as an infant from Romania, and his mom used to chuckle at how people complimented his english! He too arrived in the USA speaking "baby".

My sis has two adopted Korean children. They are white. Same thing happened to them with people asking rude questions.

When she was out alone with them her reply was, "They take after their father."
Or
"My darlings are worth more than millions of dollars."

I believe she also had a couple of sarcastic responses too.
Won't print them.

I do like the one how the child came with the stroller!

A friend at work just added an 11 month baby girl from Africa to her family.

She talks baby a lot. The best word is "Mamamama." Isn't that the same all over the world?

Yep It’s the Same world wide My youngest says Mamamama and bababababa. Now that she is 11 months old she can say NaNa (I think it means no because she says it when she’s mad or is not hungry) I hope she will talk soon!!
How rude of those people in the playground to ask the kids that. My kids have been asked the same things one mom at the park asked me were their dad was I told her that Grace’s dad was somewhere in Vietnam and Trini and Heavenly’s dad was somewhere in Kazastan. Boy you guys should have seen the look on her face it was all too funny.
Some people just don’t know when to keep their pie-holes shut
