How do you dry up your milk?
I had my c-section on Saturday, and it feels like my breast milk came in on Wednesday. The hospital told me to put cabbage leaves in my bra 24 hours a day for 4 days and it should dry up my milk. Well on Wednesday my milk came in and I'm having trouble getting them to dry up.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Oops. It didn't register on the other thread that you were trying to dry it up. Sorry!
No, I have never heard of this with the cabbage leaves. In my mom's day, they had some kind of medication, don't know if they still do that.

The cabbage leaves don't really help with drying the milk up. They just are supposed to provide comfort during the process. It'll happen naturally and it can take a few weeks totally. Avoid the shower directly hitting your breast will help NOT stimulate them.

Milk will take a while to completely dry up. There are properties in the cabbage that relieve engorgement.
What are you using for birth control--that will help if you're going on the pill.
Drinking sage tea (and actually other diuretics) will also help speed along the process.
But your milk will not be completely gone for at least a week or so.

Oh my gosh I had forgotten completely about that. It's quite painful, and my boobs were so heavy I thought they'd fall off if I leaned forward!
Patience is the only recommendation I have. Mine only took about 2-3 days to go down. Hope it doesn't last too long!

Ice packs, and lots of them. Wrap yourself as tight as you can stand it ((sports bras and ace bandages work wonders)) and don't touch them, ever! haha! Good luck!!

i didnt do anything but jaxon breast fed for almost 4 months before I kinda was forced to bottle feed. I was told that you dont want to stimulate them at all but the dr told me to make sure to relieve some in the shower if the engorgment became painful. They do have a pill of some sort. I think you may want to relieve some of it in the shower or you could risk clogged ducts or mastisis
