Smile How do you like to read to your young child?

How do you like to read to your young child?I created this blog with a great enthusiasm. I am a French Canadian retired teacher and want to write stories for young readers such as 3-6 years old. My books will be in French, English (will be edited) and Chinese (will be edited as well) languages to start. I need your opinion about which kind of presentation would be more beneficial, such as print from your computer, books, e-books, into magazines, CD (audio) or what else? Your opinion will be well appreciated.Thank you! Louise

My child is a big fan of holding the book, so print would be best for us!

We read once they are in bed and my 4 year old likes to hold the book. He likes to read the same stories over and over, so something hardwearing in large print would be good.

We read on the sofa and in bed every night, the children like to hold the books themselves, it is always good when the picture on the page matches what the words say. I think it is best when there are two or three sentences maximum on a page and in large clear writing. What I would say is though you can get books that come with an audio book, Jamie has one and it is his favourite book, the words are coloured as well so he can follow what he is hearing on the page with his finger. Books you can wipe clean are needed as well otherwise after a fairly short time they get dirty from grubby fingers which can obscure the words.

My girls like to read with a physical book in their hands. We read each night before bed, but also through the day at times. My oldest is starting to find interest in books that are read to her on DVD or on CD ROM on the computer. One thing would be to write the story with colourful illustrations and large print, and then have it turned into an interactive CD ROM for use on a home computer.

Thank you very much for all your comments.
How about having a membership and receiving books with stories and poems each month ?

We like to read large colorful beautifully illustrated books cuddled up on the couch. I really look forward to reading the books you write to my kids. Good Luck!
