Default How quickly do blood tests turn positive after conception?

No, I'm not pregnant! But I was having a discussion with a friend yesterday about how soon after conception a blood test will come out positive. If a person concieves today, lets say, how many days does it take for the doc's blood test to turn positive? Neither my friend or I had a clue, as both of us took home tests with our babies.

I have no idea. With my first pregnancy I had no clue I was even pregnant, I had been married less than 2 months and I went in for my first woman's appt and they did a urine test and it came back positive! Imagine my surprise as I was there for birth control, !

I've never had one, but a friend of mine did to determine pregnancy (she was on meds that were bad for the baby and had a condom break) and I believe she was only 2 weeks in at that point, can't be sure though.

I dunno. My body told me I was PG way before I would have had to take a blood test.

i had BT at 9DPO and it came back with only 5 HCG (not enough to comfirm PG) but after the Dr told me that i asked if i still could be PG and he said that at 9 DPO it might have been still a little early... did a little bit of research on the net and found that it can be pos as early as 7 DPO or as late as 10DPO

I never have positive HPTs in the beginning (something to do with my diabetes and insulin), so my primary told me I could get blood work done as early as 7 days past conception. I ended up waiting an extra week, because I didn't want to hear "negative" again.

it takes anywhere from 5-10 days for implantation, and i think once it implants, HCG starts being made, go i guess it just depends on implantation....

Thanks for the info ladies! Very helpful. I never would have guessed it was so early.
