Default how young is too young?

My family (extended) were thinking about going to Disney World next year for Christmas. My son will be 15 months then, and I'm wondering if this is a bad age to take him. The last time I was there was when I was in 3rd grade (13 years ago!) I know that there probably aren't too many (if any) rides for him to enjoy, but maybe the atmosphere and the characters will be enough for him?

I don't think it's ever too young to go to Disney!!! I do think that you have to adjust your expectations accordingly though. We've done Disney w/ 1 11 mos old and then we did Disney again recently w/ all 5 kids in tow. . .the twins had just turned 2. We had to plan a lot of down time. . .and you'll drive yourself bonkers if you try to do too much. . .but there's plenty there for family bonding w/ all ages.

the only thing u may have to worry about is if he is afraid of the characters...would be no fun to have a screaming baby the whole day! see how he is around characters here...elmo bday parties and such...my daughter has never been afraid but i know i was until i was 7!!

One of the twins was afraid of Mary Poppins so she laid down on the sidewalk and went to sleep saying, "can't see me when I seeping"

well we did santa this year and he did fine. but maybe as he gets older, he will start to be afraid of characters...i looked at a few places today. when i went before we stayed at the all star sports resort. the prices aren't as bad as i actually was anticipating! also, is he like full price for tickets to parks, etc?

I doubt it but you should check. You can order a free vacation planning kit from Disney (go to their website) and IMO that makes things tons easier.

Call to check, but I think I remember the under 2 kids being free. We've gone with our kids many times, even when they were babies. I wouldn't worry about the characters. They aren't around all the time and are fairly easy to avoid if he is scared. My babies liked the Winnie the Pooh characters at the dinner with Pooh thing. Even as young as 9 months, they were petting them and smiling.

We took out first son when he was just 11 months old, and he LOVED it!! He didn't like the characters so much, but loved the rides. That's actually where he started walking!
We had tons of leftover tickets (from all the familys' 5-day passes) so for the next several years we would go every 5 months or so. Our 2nd child we first took when he was 3 mos old, but he really enjoyed it when he was 13 months old. Go for it!

Dominic was a year old when we took him. He seemed to enjoy it, especially when we went to a spot in Pooh's corner to meet the Pooh characters. He wasn't scared as I expected him to be (though i don't know why cause I have a very fearless child, lol... Devin was more afraid of things than he was and Devin was 4) As soon as he saw Pooh he reached out to him and started squealing it was the cutest thing. Then Pooh played along and tried to hold his hand well Dominic just threw himself into Pooh and started nuzzling against him, lol... It was great! I don't think it's tooo young. Dominic even enjoyed Sea World while we were there (except when Shamu drenches the audience and that's mainly because he had fallen asleep against me and the water is ICE COLD when it hits you) I say go have a great time!!

We have taken our daughter to Disney multiple times. She just turned 2. She loves it more and more. We found that children of any age can ride mostly everything at Magic Kingdom (other parks vary). I would not worry about the characters. If your child is afraid you can take plenty of pics with them while your child sleeps in the stroller. I found this great tip on www.childtraveltips.com. I hope this helps. Don't miss out on any of the Disney parks b/c it really is fun for EVERYONE!!
