Any thought I had of voting for Huckabee has gone out the window.

I'd like to know why Romney thinks this is a "traditional" smear. Mormons, care to explain the rationale here? From what I can see, it is the idea that Jesus is the Son of God, and Satan is a "fallen angel" - a belief widely held by many Christians, including Roman Catholics.

I think that Huckabee ought to be ashamed of himself. This kind of bigotry has no place in an election. Here is my town, fear mongering about our filipino mayor being in favor of illegal immigration and unsafe basement apartments because he was supposedly only mayor for "them" led to his defeat and the reign of some very expensive corruption. Attacking ethnicity or religion in any political race indicates to me that the attacker has something to hide.

I'm old enough to remember JFK meeting with Protestant leaders to assure them that he was not going to deliver the USA to Rome. Somehow, that did not convince many of my neighbors, who voted against Kennedy's religion out of fear and misconceptions about Catholicism.

I guess Huckabee is old enough to remember that too.

I too was disappointed by Huckabee. It's interesting but the conservative right for me in this election is a little too conservative !

I think that Romney was saying it's somewhat "traditional" for some people to try to smear the Church (yes, I mean the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, of which I am a member) by taking things out of context. It's easy to put a spin on something when the full dialog isn't used. Just like what happened to Huckabee, as he was taken out of context. Nobody likes to be misunderstood.
