I am a church lady!
anyways, thats the big joke in our family right now! "Julies a church lady! ha ha ha!"
I was asked to be on the social concerns committee and since my friend was also on it i decided to say yes.
Its actually turned out to be a great thing. My friend and i are in charge of Support Life Month or Pro-Life month activities(which is october). Its been great getting together with my friend, now that we have a purpose we can't have any excuses not to! You know how it is when you're all busy and you just drift apart.....
Also we have learned about a wonderful woman in Chicago named Sister Sarah who runs a school in the inner city of Chicago. We are organizing a school supply drive for her and her students, so they can all have backpacks and paper and pencils, as there are many homeless students and the rest of the students are below the poverty level.
We have also been helping ladies from one of our sister parishes start up a food pantry for our surrounding area.
Its been so much fun and surprisingly rewarding!
