I had a panic attack...
So...I was in the shower before bedtime last night because I've been sick and that usually clears me up a little bit. I was just about finished and bent over to shut off the water and started coughing uncontrollably. It felt like something cut in my throat and then it got all swollen very quickly and I couldn't breath at all. I stood there choking for about a minute before it started to open up a little very slowly till it was back to normal.......I was like...ok that was weird...and got out of the shower got my inhaler and used it...It didn't really seem to do anything but I thought it might help make that not happen again.
I was wrong. A few minutes later the uncontrolled cough happens (just once) and It swells again and choking again for another minute!!! It slowly opened back up and I was trying to not freak out....so I layed down on my side just trying to relax. AND it happens again after 5 minutes!! Once I got over that one I called my mom she didn't answer so I called my dad and he said to go to the ER....could be I tore my esophagus (he's always dramatic like me and thinks the worst) So I called someone to meet me there to keep Kate for a little while (hopefully) and then it happened again.......then the panic attack started and I was shaking and sweating and my thoughts were racing and I was freaking out. I couldn't drive. I was so pathetic. I called 911 cause my dad had me very freaked...and they came and took us there and kept telling me I just needed to relax that I was just under alot of stress and it was all probably stress related because it wasn't my asthma my lungs sounded clear. I had to go to the ER because I don't think I would have believed anyone at that point that I was ok. I was home alone with a 2 year old and I kept not being able to breath....what about that sounds ok?
So I have bronchitis....and that's it. They gave me antibiotics....they gave me cough syrup and a new inhaler....and probably should have given me something to cope with my stress cause I'm obviously not doing that well!! lol

Maybe your bronchitis caused it, infections can make your body ill in general. At least you are getting better now. You can get calming medicines over the counter, if you can go, or you can send someone else the pharmacist would be able to give some good advice on what is good and what you can take during pregnancy.

Well I'm glad its nothing too serious. Tho I'm sure I would have done the same thing. I hope it clears up soon. Also Reilly had some issues with his teeth being soft after I was on antibiotics while I was pregnant with him. Keep and eye out. Let us know how your feeling.

Thank you! I will try hard to remember that. I think I am going to write it down because I am sure my memory will only get worse.

You poor thing. you've had it pretty rough the past week, huh? I wish I knew some magic words.
I think its great that the er figured out what was wrong and were able to get you started on meds. I can't possibly know the best thing for your stress. I can only speculate that being pregnant and having a toddler at the same time would wreak havoc on my nerves! One day at a time. I really, really hope you feel better soon!

I have panic attacks too. I'm sorry you're going through that. One thing to keep in mind, in case it happens again, is that I usually know I'm on the verge of an attack when I start feeling like I'm choking and start coughing, so the choking you were feeling may also be a sign of the attack coming on. I hope you feel better soon!
