Default i need a home :(

ok, it's really not as bad as it seems, haha. but i live with my parents right now, and parker and i are just ready to be out of there. i love my parents and all, but honestly, i'm ready to be out on my own. i'm a single parent and i work at a bank where i bring home about $475 every 2 weeks. (i know it sucks), so really i have no money to really get a place. i hate to take hand outs and i hate to take things from the government when there are people out there who probably need it more than i do. but does anyone know if there is anything i can go through for maybe a little help? i'm planning on switching jobs within the year, i just can't until later this year. any help would be great. i'm not looking for a huge mansion or anything like that, but just a small apartment. oh, i live in pennsylvania too, i dunno if that matters or not. tia!

Don't think of it as a handout. Think of it as a helping hand, which we need from time to time.

You should definitely look into food stamps and WIC, expecially with a child. Also check to see if there is housing assistance near you and what the income requirements are. You probably make too much money for total assistance. Sometimes there is help which is called "section 8" - this means that you live in an approved apartment (not public housing) which the social workers inspect to make sure it is safe - and then they guarantee a portion of your rent.

Whether or not someone needs more help than you is not the question. You need help, and you need to see what you are eligible for.

I will definitly check those things out mcmama. I guess I just don't know where to start....I have looked into WIC, but since I live with my parents, they take the whole household's income. And divasmommie--I live in Carlisle, it's about 30 minutes south of harrisburg. I know there are apartments around, but it seems like after I pay all my bills, and Parker's stuff I have about $50 to spend towards something! Thanks for ur help :]
