Jaecy didnt play with other kids until about 2, or close to it. Kaydee has been playing with her sister for quite some time, but i think its because she is always here. They are always together so its easier for her

I think the girls started playing WITH others kinda early, can't remember the actual age. But i think it is because I babysit and they consistantly had the same kids around them ALL day EVERYDAY.
Kalen plays with his sisters but not for a long time. He doesn't "get" their games yet. He has a boy cousin who is just a few months older than him and they DO play together. But they just started doing that about a month ago....it was sooo cute to see them actually interact.

I used to take a child psychology course and they say if you really watch young lids under the age of about 4-5 they really don't play with each other they parallel play meaning they play beside each other. When thye become school age they start to play with each other. I don't know how true this is.

Thanks for the replies!
We have a playdates(for mom ) quite often with a set of identical twin girls who are a month older than Kenzie. I don't notice them playing WITH each other either- but they surely share WAY better than Kenzie and they don't mind having toys taken from them or what not.
I assumed it was because they were twins. Or maybe my kid is just that naughty! !

Ellamae will play with older kids but not so much ones her own age. But the only girl she knows her own age is the BIGGEST cry baby, every little thing makes her cry, this poor girl is sad all the time.

She is pretty good about sharing toys that we bring to the park or to peoples homes. But not so when we are at home. I think she feels her whole personal space in being invaded.

She likes playing "tea party" it is the cutest thing to watch. And she likes to play hide and seek. I think she is able to play with older kids b/c they can initiate the play.

Lisa--it sounds like K is normal and that the twins are just used to sharing like that because they're twins

Vinnie and CeJay share really well, but they are super close in age. I've heard that kids don't "play together" until they are almost 4. When I used to have Vinnie in Early Intervention I had a fight with a lady about this. She told me that, and Vinnie was 2 and I said the boys play together. She said it was impossible, until she saw them. I guess it just depends on the kids. My step son didn't know how to share until he started coming over more and spending more time with other kids. He is the only kid in his house, so he never needed to learn.

It depends a lot on the children and the types of play they enjoy. Obviously a game of catch or a tea-party lends itself to playing with other kids. Playing with blocks or a shape sorter would lead more to solo-play.

I don’t think it is imaginative play yet. There is a couple of girls around 5 that play with Ellamae. They initiate the play and kind of tell her what to do. She is more than likely trying to copy what the big girls are doing.

Here is her and daddy playing. My mom got her the tea set and also a table & chairs for Christmas. She currently is figuring out how to use the chairs to climb onto things.
