I think I gave birth to a piggy!
ok so Kaydee has been on stage 2 jar foods for quite some time--about 2 months.
Shes 6 1/2 months old (Ugh she needs to stop growing up!) and the other night for dinner she ate 2 jars of food and STILL wanted more!!! She cried and cried until I finally gave her a bottle.
She gets 3 meals a day, fruit in the am, cereal for lunch, and a veggie for dinner (sometimes meat--it just grosses me out )
I know everyone says that a baby will tell you when shes full, but do you think Kaydee lost that somewhere? Or is she really that hungry?! Shes not big, only 17lbs and 27inches....her torso is very small around, so I just dont see how she takes in soo much food!
She didnt throw up after eating all of that, but she didnt sleep well either...could it have just been too much? Anything else I could have done instead of feeding her another jar? The binki didnt work...the bottle worked, but only after she had the 2nd jar.
Is it time for stage 3?

and another thing that just started the past 2 days...
she started holding her own bottle...now all she wants to do it play with it...she will cry for one, then i hold her and let her hold it, and she just sucks for a second, takes it out of her mouth, looks around, puts it back in, chews on it, sucks a little...and 4 oz is taking her over 45 mins to finish!!!!
its driving me crazy...well today i gave her a suppy cup (nuk, soft nipple type top) and she drank out of that just fine...should i start puttin her formula in a sippy cup?

Stage 3 is pretty chunky- so, if you think she can handle chunks- you could do stage 3.
Just to give you a hint.. Kenzie was 15.8 pounds at 5 months.. she eats about 30 ounces of formula day and 2 stage 1 jars each meal(bfs, lunch, dinner). We just bought stage 2 now that she's 5.5 months- for when her stage 1 jars run out.
I don't think she's eating too much! Kenzie does the want to hold her own bottle so she can play with it, too! But, I just hold it for her so she'll finish! Otherwise, she does exactly what Kaydee does and it drives me nuts! hahah

ok well that makes sense cause Kaydee only takes about 16-20 oz of formula on a good day
When I make her cereal it pretty chunky and thick and she does just fine...shes had some tiny pieces of macaroni and did fine too....and she eats bread and french fries...well sucks on them until they are mushy and fall apart....i may buy some the next time we run out of stage 2 and try it
and i jsut handed her the bottle in her swing, and amazingly enough she finished it in about 15 mins!! Maybe its just when Im holding her? I jsut feel bad letting her sit there by herself....

My son was a piggy, too. He would nurse for 15 minutes, every 2 hours, and go through at least 6 jars of stage 2 food/day. He was 7 months before he had stage 1 food and I think we started stage 2 a month or so later.

Techinically, McKenzie is taking the quanity of 3 stage 2 jars(she takes a total of 6 stage 1's)!
She'll take forever feeding herself, too. But if she stops being stubborn and lets me feed her- she'll down 4 ounces in 4/5 minutes! She takes a bunch of 4 ounce bottles and a 6 ounce bottle right before bed.
We're trying a stage 2 jar for dinner tonight! Mmmm! jarred meat, hahahah!!

Oh, and Kenzie gags at anything above puree. I know she cannot possible be choking on it(mashed over cooked carrots for instance ) but she gags her heart out.. Dramatic this one... Dramatic..

izzy gets a little plate at dinner, then still ends up stealing off our plates. i swear she's a bottomless pit! she won't eat baby food, so i'm not much help, but can you give her something like mashed potatos? maybe make them a little more "soupy"? might help fill her up. GL

Emma is like this too. She prefers to eat finger foods that I cook up for her. Plus, she can sit with us, explore new textures AND eat good things.

Forgot to add- maybe instead of increasing her solids(as she is def getting plenty) maybe try to offer more formula if she'll take it... ?>>>
