I decided that the next child we will have I would like to adopt. It will not be anytime soon, since we just had a baby, but I think we should go ahead and get on a waiting list...I know they are usually up to 10 years! I think adoption is such a wonderful thing and when we turn 30 I know we would love to have another baby. Daniel (our last child, 4 mo. old) was a very high risk pregnancy and I was told that it might not even be possible for me to have another baby. So, I would love to adopt a little baby. I thought I would just share this with ya'll. Has anyone here adopted a child? And how is it?

Thats wonderful Katie...I wish you lots of luck in your attempts to adopt a child soon. It really takes a strong family and an even stronger woman to do so. Adopting is an amazing journey with tons of ups and downs. I know you will be great with the decision you all make. You should start looking into it even though it might not be for another couple years yet. At least you could start to get an idea of whether or not you want the US or another country child. I gave my daughter up for adoption over 2 years ago.

We're in the middle of adopting from Guatemala and we're very excited. We have three bio children, 7, 4, and 3. Two boys and a girl respectively. We had only looked into adopting six months before we did it, and we didn't even need that. The adoption will cost us approx 30,000 total and as soon as we accept a referral we will have our baby home in 5-8 months. The great thing about Guatemala is you don't have to go to pick up the babies, they can be escorted home, or you can go and spend only 3-4 days there. I also cannot have any more children...I had a condition where I was essentially allergic to being pregnant and I kept getting pregnant because they kept removing organs and telling me that should fix the problem. Well, the only thing that did fix it was when they took my uterus. My last pregnancy something also went wrong with my daughter so that was it. Good luck. There are many children here and abroad that need good homes.

I too will eventually adopt again when we save up again .I really dont care whether we do domestic or international.If we could I would take another baby now but we hafta work our way back up for agency exspences.Our adopted son is 8 months old now and we brought him home from hospital.I could not have children and TTC for 11 years.So we decided to adopt.We just wanted to be a mommy and daddy.
I think somewhere deep down i was afraid my dh wouldnt love our adopted child as he would a biological child.I should have saved myself some time.From the moment our son was born my dh,who never held babies,took our son and he was in love at first sight.he is very overprotective of him but ev eryone is always commenting they have never saw any father love a child biologically or not the way he love our lil prince.I have to agree.

you have taken the right decision. you are doing a good job. there are many children in the orpahage who are ill-fated. by adopting them you are in ither words giving them a good future.

That is awesome, I am also wanting to adopt. We have tried for about 5 years to conceive but have not been successful. We want a family and feel we would make wonderful parents. We just started this journey and do not know in which direction to go. Are you going through the State or thrugh a adoption agency?
