Make that .89, not 1.89. A nice deal for the customer, and one that moves merchandise, allows the store to legitimately redeem the coupon and collect a handling fee too.
Eckerd became Rite Aid in my old neighborhood, and was much better when it did. The quality of the stores, and the stock they carry varies from place to place.
Rite aid closed some of their smaller stores in some areas when taking over Eckerds, and I think some of the Eckerds buildings were sold as well.
