I'm having knee surgery!
I don't know if any of you remember but last year in November, I injured my right knee playing soccer. It turned out that I ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in my right knee. So after two specialist appt's and an MRI, I started physio. It helped some but not completely...
So I went back to the specialist yesterday afternoon for my 3month follow up and he's going to operate on my knee to fix it better. Which is a good thing, but I am kinda scared about it. It's not major surgery, but still it's surgery and with any surgery there can be complications, I'm also worried about after- like if it's not fixed properly. But the biggest thing that I'm scared/worried about is that I'm going in on the 3rd of April--- TWO WEEKS AWAY!!! Its great that I can get in so quickly, but woah, it's soooo soon!
Its a day only procedure and I am calming down a bit after being told its in 2 weeks. It's also a workers comp injury since I did it at work and so I don't have to pay for anything at all, not even recovery rehab or physio. My GP also said that he would like me to be off work for a month so that I can recover properly and focus on recovery. I like that idea, but I think I'd find it really hard to go back to work again after... but whatever's best.
So I just thought I'd update you all and also just ask that if you don't mind I'd appreciate your prayers too. Thanks!

My youngest sister had this surgery in July. She was in physical therapy 2-3 times per week for about 4 weeks then 1-2 times for 3 more weeks then once a week for about 2 months. During all of this therapy she moved from our parents' house to the college dorms nearly 2 hrs away. Of course during surgery they discovered that she actually injured her ACL several years prior to the diagnosis so they had additional repairs to make. Her leg is still a little sore when she overworks it but other than that she seems like new.
Good Luck! Remember to relax. Everything will turn out just fine. You'll see.

I've had several reconstructive operations on one of my knee's, I thought the after pain was a lot milder than the pain I had pictured in my head, I had physiotherapy the next day as well which wasn't that painful. So try not to worry too much, also my surgeons always told me that they do not perform operations on joints unless they know the operation either improves or leaves the joint in the same condition, so it wont be any worse.

Glad to hear that you have a surgical date and are gearing yourself up for the day.
Who will go with you? Anybody going to stay w/ you for the recovery following days?
Keeping you in our prayers for a successful surgery & an easy recovery too.
(((Hugs)))

Thankyou all so much for your prayers and also the success stories, they do help calm me down.
My mum works at a school and the week after my surgery is their first week of Easter Holidays, so she'll stay with me most days and I've had friends offer to come and sit with me too, so that'll be good for when I'm less mobile to start with, and generally for company too.
