Exclamation Incest case in the news *disturbing*

http://news.aol.com/story/_a/an-asto...27123809990001

I'm sure most of you by now have heard the case out of Austria, where a 42 year old woman claimed her father locked her in the basement for 24 years and fathered 7 children with her.

DNA tests have just proven that the children are, in fact, all his.

I don't know...I am just speechless. I just don't understand how this could happen. So sad.

And to think that this monster might only get 15 years in prison for this? What is this world coming to?

What are your thoughts about this?

I saw this on TV. It is not a claim.....they showed pictures of where she and 3 of her 6 living children lived. I hope this man ROTS in jail, and am so thankful that the children that were jailed with her are now free. I hope they all get some help...they need a lot of counciling.

The mother may not have known...it seems he placed the kids on the door step with a note form the "run away" child stating she couldn't care for them. The room was also completly sound proof and hidden Very well. They only found the room because the girl that was sick told them. I feel for this family.

That is one sick man. What really gets my goat is that he might only get 15 years for imprisoning her for 24. They are trying to attach a murder charge against him for the one infant that died, but that would only carry a 20 year sentence, max. Where is the justice in all of this? He basically stole her life! I am happy to hear the rest of the family is getting the counseling that they are going to need to get through all of this.

Those poor poor kids! I still wondering how he managed to hide it all. The hidden rooms had a kitchen and bathroom apparently all installed by him but how'd he sneak the materials in and could you feed an extra 4 mouths behide your partners back? I'm just stunned by it all!

Horrid evil man!

Wow, just when you think you have heard it all!!!
That is so disturbing. There is no punishment appropriate for him. Nothing will get his daughters lost life back. (The 24 years)
And those children that he left down there with her......never seeing sunlight!!!!! 19 and 18years old! I am having trouble wrapping my mind around it. There really is no punishment suitable for him.
15 years is rediculous. I hope they do add the 20. He is in his 70's so he won't make it out if that is the case. I bet there prisons aren't as nice as ours here in the states.

It has been reported that one of the children are in a critical condition in hospital and that all the children will have permanent sight and hearing problems. The father is also going to be question about an unsolved murder which happened in a place he often visited alone and did not tell his wife the intentions of his visits. They are also wondering how he sorted out the food needs of the children whilst he was on holidays that were often a month long.

A tenant who lived in the apartments for 12 years said he did hear noises from the basement and saw him taking wheelbarrow loads of food in but never questioned it.

If he could do this to his daughter, he probably treated the wife much worse. Imagine being dominated by someone like this, who has you raise your grandchildren under his watchful eye. Imagine the intimidation he had to put on those kids to keep from telling.

This is someone who does not view a family as people, but as possessions. And elderly or not, he is a dangerous criminal. For the safety of this family, he should be locked up for the rest of his life.

In a basement cell.

Yuck... This is absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that something like this could happen in this world! (Well, actually, I can as we see nasty things like this happening every day!) What a horrible situation. What a ugly, ugly man!
