Default Info I thought I would share..

Ok so DH WAS taking Zinc and Folic Acid to help with his sperm count issues. Well I have been doing research since it says that they need other vitamins and minerals when they are trying to concieve. SOOO I found this site that tells you what supplement will help a woman and a man concieve. Then I noticed everything on the list is in a prenatal. So it got me curious and I googled men taking prenatals. Besides the Iron which isnt normally found in men's multivitamins they are about the same. Well according to the American Pregnancy Association. It is safe for men to take a prenatal. They should just eat first since the iron could upset their stomachs. So as of tonight Dh is getting prenatals instead of his two little pills. I wanted to share just in case it helps someone else.

I checked my Flintstones Complete w/ Choline and they have the exact amount of everything in them.

I stopped taking prenatals b/c I have to pay a $25 co-pay for them a month and b/c I've read that a lot of Prenatals give you TO much of certain vitamins. So I started taking the Kids chewable Flintstones with a 500mg Vit. C tab (also watch how much C you take b/c it effects CM). In total I get 560mg of C and since its all OTC dh can take them to. So we both take them.

I learned a lot about vitamins on weight watchers which is why I switched over to kid's instead of adults. If you ever look at some adult vitamins they give you like 200% or more of what you need in a day with certain ones. To much of a good thing can be bad too.

I really need to buy some DHA (omega 3 fish oil) too. I use to get one with my prenatals. DHA is really good for men's counts and is heart healthy.

Oh yeah I forgot that I also take Cinnamon caps. They help with your sugar levels and PCOS related insulin resistance. You can take them with Met. Cinnamon also helps you body turn glucose into energy which helps women with PCOS lose weight.

My DH has been taking my prenatals for years! I bought a Costco sized bottle before starting TTC my first. When I got pg my Dr. prescribed pre-natals that my insurance covered, so instead of letting good vitamins go to waste DH started taking them, too.

A couple of years ago his Dr. asked him to bring in everything he took (inc. vitamins) to his annual physical. When he pulled out the pre-natals my DH looked at his Dr. and said "I bet you didn't know I was pregnant, did you?"

From what I've read it helps with CM but only if you take it in a low dose (under 600mg).Which is why you have to watch how much you take or drink. Here is an article about CM...

What are some other possible ways to improve cervical mucus?

Drinking plenty of water should always be considered in addition to any other therapies one might try. Estrogen is sometimes given to help mucus production, though doctors have mixed opinions of its benefit, especially when used with Clomid (and some suggest using Tamoxifen instead of Clomid). Injectable gonadotropins used for controlled ovarian hyperstimulation often have a positive effect on cervical mucus as well. Some home/natural remedies include eating salty foods such as popcorn (mucus is very salty), taking evening primrose oil, avoiding dairy products (they can thicken mucus), eating lots of baby carrots, and also avoiding antihistamines, including high doses of vitamin C. Another suggestion that is increasing in popularity is to drink grapefruit juice in order to improve or increase the amount of cervical mucus. If one is on prescription medications, it is a good idea to look for warning about grapefruit juice consumption (it isn't recommended with several medications for hypertension, for example).

I think I may try Robitussin/Guaifenesin this next cycle.

It works by thinning out CM. Since Clomid makes CM dry up it helps by giving you more EWCM. (2-4 tsp a day from Af to "O")

You can also take Evening Primrose oil (1500-3000mg from Af to "O" you must stop it after "O") daily to not only thin out CM but to produce more EWCM. I think since Clomid gives me creamy CM only and I dont produce much while on it that I might try the Primrose instead.

So I was looking around for info on PCOS and vitamins. I found some interesting stuff. So I thought I would share it here for anyone who wants it........

Chromium is an extremely important mineral if you have PCOS. Vitamins B2, B3, B5 and B6 are particularly useful for controlling weight. Zinc is one of the key minerals that we need in our daily diets. Magnesium levels have been found to be low in people with diabetes and there is a strong link between magnesium deficiency and insulin resistance. It is, therefore, an important mineral to include if you are suffering from PCOS. Cinnamon may be a very useful herb for treating the insulin resistance. Evening Primrose: a widely popular supplement taken by many women for PCOS. Raspberry leaf is probably the most popular of all fertility herbs. It is a well-known uterine tonic and is also quite high in calcium. It's fertility promoting effects are most useful when combined with Red Clover. Several herbs can not be taken with fertility medicines check with your DR.
If anyone would like the link to the whole article just PM me

Well I figured I would check both my old prenatals (Duet+DHA)and my Flintstones Kid's that I take now to see if any of those vitamins were in them.
Neither has B 3&5. My kid's dont have Chromium but Duet does. So I think I am going to change vitamins again. I found THESE which have everything in them but they give you over the daily amount of a lot of stuff (which isn't always good for you)but they are the only vitamins I could find that have all the PCOS vitamins in them(even the raspberry leaf which I need to check if it reacts with Clomid).
