Hi, my husband and i are in the middle of the home study process to become foster parents. We would like to foster for a while and eventually adopt a child or sibling group between about 5 and 9 years old.
Yesterday we completed our educational classes, we've had one home visit and my husband has had his interview. Our backgrounds came back fine and we've finished our paperwork. All that remains is my solo interview and our couple interview, which are scheduled for tomorrow. Then the case worker will write up our home study (she has two months but said it would be about a week) and submit it for approval, which could take another month.
It's so exciting! My husband and i have always talked about having biological kids and foster/adoptive kids. As it turns out, the biological piece isn't possible (i have severe endometriosis), at least without IVF which we would prefer not to pursue, so we are happily moving toward fostering. We're both 33, and we have 3 Great Danes and a horse. That's all i can think of at the moment, but feel free to grill me
