Default Iron in Formula

I was having this conversation with my mother yesterday about the kind of formula we have been getting for Amber lately. They haven't had our regular kind with "added Iron", so we've been settled for the kind with the regular amount of iron. My mom says that they were never encouraged to have kids have "extra" iron in their formula.

So my question is how much iron is good for kids, and am I worrying too much?

You gotta love dear old mom but just remember when she pops out with one of these things that they never were encouraged to put their kids in car seats either! They also weren't told about the health risks to babies from parents smoking and a myriad of other things that we know now to be better. Yes, babies need extra iron if they are formula fed. Keep in mind that formula companies are constantly changing formula contents to keep up with current research. The reason they have different types is bc some babies can't stomach the stuff with iron. But iron in formula has been shown to improve babies' health.
