Default Is Britax the best??

Ok, so, I am starting to freak out cuz I have 11 weeks left, and that is if she decides not to be a week or 2 early!!!!!! (No reason she would)
But, I need to pick out a car seat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does Britax make a Carrier type seat? or would I be stuck with one of the ones that I have to take her in and out of all the time (in the car......versus in the house---don't worry not going to just leave her in the carrier all the time!! lol)
Do you think Britax is the best???
Where do I go to research that????
Any input is appreciated.
T is in a Britax and I really do like it a lot.

Yep, I do. Britax remains the safest seat according to Consumer Guides(we have the Blvd for Kenzie).
However, for infant type seats, the Chicco Key Fit is rates REALLY high, too. It's quite a bit less and goes to 30 pounds!

From all the research I did, I found that Britax is the best and considered the "Crown Jewel" of car seats. We purchased a Boulevard but that doesn't come with a carrier. I figured that with my bad back, I wouldn't want to be lugging a car seat around. Also, this will hold our baby from birth all the way up to 65 lbs.!

I was going to purchase it at ToysRUs for $310 plus tax but got it from an authorized dealer on eBay for $250 TOTAL! I was stoked to save $80!

Here is a link that will provide you more info on the Britax seats:
http://www.britaxusa.com/safety/infant_carrier.aspx

I believe their carrier style is called "Companion".

To the mothers who chose the kind of car seat that doesn't detach like mine, what do you carry the baby in when you go into places, like the grocery store? Every baby I see at the grocery store is in the cart in their car seat and I won't have that option so I wonder what to do about that?

At the stores that have the little infant carrier attached I would put our floppy in there and put her on top. When she started to roll around I would put the floppy in the front of the regular cart and lay her down or prop her up in there with a tiny pillow.

As far as car seats...I don't know! I never had the best cause dh wouldn't agree to spend that much. He's a poop head.

PM me Kasia if you're really interested. I know that some sites have REALLY discounted Britax's as they move to the next "style" Still new and safe.

A floppy won't work for a newborn. However, you can use a sling or a Bjorn(or similar) to wear them in. K did have a newborn seat- but we wore her a lot at that age.

I used the floppy for mine...you just use it differently..and use support or just lay the baby down. but we used it on the infant things that come on the carts just to cover it and where it has holes we brought the straps through to buckle her in.

I suppose it depends how much your baby weighs but if you don't have a carrier because of a bad back I would think you wouldn't want to carry the baby through the store because of the back either.

This is what I have, but it is NOT made to fit on top of a shopping cart. But in my opinion car seats should not be put on top of shopping carts, it is just too easy for them to tip over. I LOVE mine. Aside from the shopping issue (I just put it inside the cart but with a larger family you need somewhere to put your groceries!), it is nice being able to transport a sleeping baby in a infant seat. Currently I just take her out unless she is sleeping.

I have been trying to decide what kind of car seat I want for when she outgrows her chicco key fit and I was looking at Britax seats and saw a Britax infant seat!!! But it only goes up to 22lbs and the chicco key fit is easier to install. But if you want a britax they do make them!
