Default is it worth it?

so i'm finalizing my list of stuff we need for jack, and i'm stuck when it comes to strollers. we know if we're going to do the double stroller, we're getting a sit & stand. i already found a really good deal on one that comes WITH an infant car seat. here's the thing, izabell is rarely ever ever in a stroller & i have a small car. is it really worth it to spend the $$ on a double stroller & lug it around if she's never going to use it? the last time she was in a stroller was when we went to the river walk 2 months ago, and that was the first time in months! but at the same time, if we go down to the river again, we'll need to strap her in.

I debated this issue soooo much! We ended up not getting one, and I'm so glad we didn't! Alex uses a stroller every now and then, but not very ofter, sort of like Izzy. We have our regular stroller that the carseat fits in that we had for Alex when she was a baby, and just used the same carseat and stroller for Devon. And we also have a $20 umbrella stroller that we use for Alex if she is going to need a stroller.

I have found that I have never had to take them both somewhere at the same time where a stroller is required when I'm by myself. There were a couple of times when I would have liked to go to the mall or something, but I can skip it, or Alex can walk. But so far, if we've gone somewhere where a stroller is needed for both of them, there were always two of us, me and my mom, or me and DH, etc.

I'm really glad we didn't spend the $$$ on a double stroller.

I have gone the double stroller route, but I tend to walk longish distances and little feet can get tired. Saying that, I have friends that have stuck with the single stroller and then if it is needed, added a buggy board onto it. It isn't nearly as big as an added seat, and it can be taken off easily.
Congrats on the newest addition to your family!

We got the sit and stand double plus. I think we could do without it but Kate gets tired quick so it works for me. You could take a regular stroller and a sling and if your toddler gets tired of walking put her in the stroller and the baby in the sling.

We have never used one, we hardly use push chairs at all though, if we are both out a baby is carried and anyone over two can walk.

I was thinking about this again this morning and I tried to think about how I do this alone. I remember Halloweek, when Devon was just over a month and Alex was almost two. She walked most of the way, but when she got tired we took Devon out of the stroller and carried him, and Alex sat in the stroller then. Worked well, but Devon is almost 10 months old now, and I don't know how far I could comfortably carry him! I would think that the sit and stand stroller would be a great option because the double strollers can get big and inconvenient, but the sit and stands seem a bit smaller.

i was thinking they were smaller too -- until i looked at one at BRU today. they're actually kinda big! i think they just seem smaller because of the metal vs. the padding. they're definitely lighter, but i'm still pretty petite and i think i'd have issues with it. i'm going to talk to DH and see what he thinks, but i think we just may get a new single stroller/carseat combo & call it a day.

has anybody tried the joovy sit & stand? they look like they're shorter, which is really what i need. all the reviews i've read just complain about the basket space, which i'm really not concerned with. TIA!

Have you ever looked at the Phil and Ted buggie? it is a double stroller, but can be a single and it doesn't actually take up any more room then a regular jogging stroller. Just an idea.
I have seen them used with children as old as 4 years old and a new born. You can google it and it will show you how it can be used.
Good luck!

Default Which Stroller or pushchair to go with..

Hi, I would probably go with one that can revert from a single to a double, like the Sport by Phil & teds. This really opens up the possibilities, and if you get the sport it should be better near the river as it's got big offroad wheels (its a three wheeler). There's a really good review on it at this popular baby pushchairs blog if you need more info.
