Default is she ready now?

Ella will be 2 and a half in April.
She takes off her wet or poopy diaper everytime she goes or she asks me to change her. She has good verbal skills, she will sit on the potty and she wants to wear underwear.

I have let her wear her undies for a few hours during the day for the last 2 days but he has only peed in the potty once. We have lots of underwear so we just change them and clean up the floors when she goes. And sit on the potty after she pees in her undies. She will sit everytime i tell her to but just doesn't go in the pot. She hasn't told be before she was to go, she just goes. Does that mean she isn't ready?

well my dd is 2 1/2 and i think your dd is more ready than mine , mine doesn't do that at all, she wakes up in the morning and hasn't peed i put her on the loo and she doesn't do anything she waits a little later and does it in her diaper, she knows to do it in the loo but just doens't want too. So if i we're you i would go for it...

i def think shes ready! My dd went through all those same things and was potty trained very fast..she was done with diapers totally by 18 months i would just keep the undies on her all day, except nap time and bedtime...she WILL have accidents...dont get mad, just tell her next time try to make it to her BIG GIRL POTTY! Make a big deal about how shes such a big girl, etc...good luck!!!!

sending you lots of patience!!!

Just another opinion!..................As I have said a few times before on this forum my children never once sat on a potty and I was actually quite pleased as I hated them. They went straight on to the toilet (I held them on until they managed themselves) my tip is to do an intensive week where you do little else but toilet training and meals. It worked with both my children. One was fully trained after the week at 2yrs the other at 2 1/2 yrs.No accidents and no nappies at all afterwards too! I did make sure I was fairly firm (in a nice way) and told them exactly why they had to use the toilet and get rid of nappies. Eww! etc! They both seemed to understand.Afterwards I had many friends copy! and throw out the potty ,tried my technique and never looked back!

Well I would concentrate on that! Some kids just don't have the inclination for a potty and who would blame them!

Songbird--when Americans talk about "potty training" we are not necessarily referring to the little potty but the process of getting your children to sit on the toilet. It may or may not involved a little potty--but many of us when we speak to our kids will ask if they want to go "potty"--referring to sitting on the toilet. I know you have strong feelings on this one but I think you're assuming that whenever we talk about potty training--we're always talking about a little potty? Not so--just wasn't sure if you were understanding that.
