Default it will be...

6 weeks on the 18th and I'm still bleeding today. It's like a super heavy period...it really makes me wonder if it's not a period?? I have had the worst cramps the past 3 days. My doctor said that if I haven't stopped bleeding by the 18th to make another appointment to see him. I was thinking about getting a IUD because....I don't think dh is going to use condoms like I had planned. He says he will but....I donno he has a way of getting what he wants somehow.

My mom is all "are you sure your not already pg" but how could we be?! lol we did bd a few hours before I gave birth to Kianna but seriously dont' think that can get you pg.
So if the bleeding hasnt stopped I have to wait even longer for the IUD he doesn't want to order it till I've stopped...Anyone ever have it?

I bled FOREVER after Devon! A couple of months, at least! I remember going to my 8 week appointment and warned my doc that I was still bleeding and for him to be careful while meandering 'down there'! LoL! He reassured me that it's normal for some women to bleed for a long time afterwards.

I got the IUD at about 3 months post-partum. I hated it. I got it just a few weeks after I stopped bleeding, and it just made me bleed again! Most people I know who have it love it! My doctor told me that I would bleed and have cramps for a day or two, and then it would stop. Well, my cramps stopped (although they did reoccur every couple of weeks) but the bleeding never stopped. I had it removed in February after almost 3 months of non-stop bleeding.

I loved how convenient it was, though! It sure was a nice method. I just hated the bleeding and was using a tampon every day, which I know wasn't the safest thing! I went on Yaz, instead. I like it. According to my doctor, the IUD is 100% effective when it's in. (Meaning that so far there haven't been any pregnancies while the IUD is in.) However, it can fall out and some women don't notice it. That is where it has become less than 100% effective, when a woman gets pregnant because it falls out and she doesn't realize it.

Anyway, if you want it, I say go for it! There are almost no "oops" with Mirena and it's so convenient!

Are you doing too much? Overworked? I know, you are saying that is all new moms that just recently gave birth. Try to take a nap every afternoon or at least put your feet up every AM and every PM.

I think your overdoing it Kara. I've read your post in breastfeeding an you seriously need to be doing less. Have you had your iron levels checked? You DH needs to be helping out or your going to end up ill.

I believe the bleeding was caused from the hormones in the Mirena. If she goes with just a plain IUD she won't have the nasty side effects that come from the particular hormone in the Mirena. In my opinion it is a nasty hormone and should only be used if others types cause you problems.

With breastfeeding I would stay away from hormonal birth control. Doctors will say it is ok and yes it is not going to negatively affect the baby but it will affect your supply. I don’t think doctors understand supply issues and just think you can supplement with formula.

When is your post-partum check up?

I agree....I am def over doing it. I'm not really sure how else to do things though. I know I NEED help but I can't afford to hire help and can't seem to find help. I don't have friends lol cause I'm too shy...the one friends we do have aren't really...helpful people. It's sad...but what can ya do? I have to have clean dishes cause I have to eat and I have to have clean clothes cause who doesn't?? and these children have needs (they're both very high maintaince(sp?) right now and dh is useless right now. He keeps saying he'll help more but he works too much to be of any real help. Today he has the day off and all I plan on doing is feeding the baby and painting a castle on Kate's wall in our new apartment acrossed the hall. I really want to do less and I think I need to but I don't know how.

Kara, Do you have any local support groups aound? A MOMS club, or maybe the hospital offers new-mom support groups? Mot only would it do you good to get out of the house and with people who have similiar lives, but often times you find people who can help you in these groups. Sounds like you do need help, and maybe some emotional support (from 'real, physical' people, not just us, here in cyberspace!!)

I bled for awhile after Kaydee too, mainly because i did do way too much. I would stop bleeding, then go out of the house and be way to active (like going back to coach cheerleading the night we came home from the hospital lol) and it would just start all over again. Finally i stayed home for a week and did nothing (literally nothing except lay on the couch) and it stopped
