Default It's all clear to me now...

As I was standing there in CVS this morning with a large amount of ECBs and other CVS coupons and a CVS email $5/20 coupon ;I realized that the mgr. wasn't going to be able to "push" my ecbs through. I also realized that the CVS flyer advertises ECBS-but they can't actually be redeemed. After new ECBS printed out'she said;hurry and use them. I said okay;gave her another order-but they wouldn't go through. She just looked at me-and I looked at her. That's when it ALL BECAME CLEAR TO ME.... this is actually false advertising and fraud.
CVS gets you in -takes your money-advertises ECB savings-gives them to you;then you can't redeem them.
All of these threads really mean NOTHING-we shouldn't have to go through all this to get the savings that they promise.
On Monday;I will contact CVS for the last time;and then contact the attorney general and consumer affairs. This issue is really no different than bait and switch;rebates that don't get honored;etc.
I hope others will join me and no longer be a CVS victim.
By the way;I have never abused the ECB system;I deserve what they advertise.

Woah. I think you're going a little far. I totally see your point, and if you're a newbie to CVS who has only experienced the bad side, then I can understand your frustration. But I don't believe that CVS is doing this intentionally. They are making upgrades to the system that just aren't working so hot right now.

I personally am not having any problems redeeming any of my EB. Go ahead & quit CVSing if you choose, but there's no way I'd give up all my sweet deals right now!!

I'm not a newbie-I just want to redeem my ECBS-and be able to reap the the deals like you. You're very lucky that it works for you-but what about the others that aren't having it work for them? These deals, and the promise of the ECBS are in ALL the flyers-EVERYWHERE-for EVERYONE.This "glitch" has been going on for weeks now-I just want what I'm entitled to.If they can't fix it-there should be directions for ALL the mgrs to follow;so that EVERYONE is able to rdemm their ECBs.

I agree with savemoney. The last 2 weeks have been frustrating for my DH and myself. We have both been beeped so many times it's gotten ridiculous!! Having to spend cash out of pocket when you have a handfull of ecb's is not funny! But having them act like you're commiting a crime is an entirely different matter. Those of you that aren't having these problems are lucky -- but those of us who are -- want it fixed!!!!

I had this happen yesterday for the first time. I had ECBs and the register wouldn't take enough so I had to use cash I had not planned to use. I didn't argue as they are always really nice at that store but afterwards I thought about how it wasn't fair since I had ECBs to cover the amount. CVS says we are supposed to be able to use the ECBs "like cash" but the registers and/or store personnel tell us otherwise. I don't do near the deals that some do or I can just imagine how frustrated I would be!
It is almost May 1st & they changed the system on April 1st-- AND-- I know that they had to work on the changes long before April 1st so why are they still having so many issues??

Just my 2 cents!

I feel your frustration. I was told my ECB's don't print because of the big "30"
They said get a new card and that will make them print. It did "NOT"
So they said print them off line and use them. So I have a stack of printed ECB's from online and everytime I go to use one it comes up "NOT VALID FOR CARD SCANNED"
So now I get to hold up the line while they call and verify. If it is one particular manager working she will just put it thru because they are tired of having to call.
Even the new ECB's that now print out instantly will say not valid for card scanned!!! And they just printed with the card I used

It's now almost a month since the launch of the new system. CVS should definitely take some action to make sure people are able to redeem the ecbs. It's only a matter a time when more and more people will file complaints to the Attorney General. It also depends on how your local store employees deal with the situation.
Also, since there is no way to reset ecbs, I think they should issue ecbs with expiration of 3 months just like rebate checks.

I agree that this should be fixed by now, OR at least, that ALL MANAGERS would be aware of a "work-around". So far NONE of my stores are aware of anything, literally. One store really tries, but still has had NO communication from corporate regarding this issue. This is the one manager that I do trust would tell me the truth, so I think the communication to the stores is a real problem. I hope you ask the DM to phone you and voice your concerns to them as well.

I dont shop Walgreens or Eckerds becuz of the rebates... I want instant gratification! And CVS gives me that. I get the error message of "ECB doesnt match card" all the time, and I just tell the cashier that its a problem with the new instant system and then I tell them just to enter it as a CVS coupon and the machine will take it. The cashier just checks my card number and enters it the way I suggested... no problem
I agree the system needs to be fixed, but lets not get all crazy and report fraud. Give them time

Default I've never heard such a big bunch of whiners...

"I'm entitled to...."
"I want instant gratification...."
"CVS should...."
Puh-lease, people. You're not entitled to anything except to take your business elsewhere if this system doesn't suit you. And do you mind taking your attitude with you to the the next forum and leave this one to consumers who are grateful for the savings we DO receive, not critical of a system that's going through some growing pains at the moment (which ultimately will benefit us all), and happy to share HELPFUL information with the rest of us.
HAPPY shopping to us all.
