Default It's really not fair

My ex boyfriend/BEST friend from high school was hit by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle. To make matters worse, last year his brothers kidney failed, so he gave him on of his. So, recovery was very tough for his body. The man who hit him didnt turn himself in for months and didnt get ANY jail time!!

heres the article

its just not fair to almost kill someone and get nothing but a slap on the wrist

I'm so sorry! You're right it's not fair that justice isn't always served. There are a lot of people who get away with the most horrible things. I just wonder why we can't figure out a way to punish these people, when we punish those who do smaller things.

That is just not a fair sentence in my mind either. The driver had 2 previous DUIs, then has this hit and run......which they cannot prove he was drunk the next day. He deserves a much harsher punishment.

How is your friend doing at this point? Has he fully recovered or still having therapies?

Is this guy totally on probation? Not going to jail at all? or going to jail for a year and then 6 years probation? Wasn't clear to me in the article.

I really think there should be special prisons for drunk drivers. Decorated with the pictures of the people they have maimed and killed.

I'm confused, because the article states he was sentenced to 1-7 years in prison, plus has to pay a fine and attend alcohol & drug treatment. I mean, it's ghastly that he did such a thing, and I feel horrible for your friend, but it doesn't look like the person is getting away without jail time.

This does really, really make me mad too because my brother wasn't even doing anything and had someone fall out the back of his truck & he got 1 year in jail for that. Sometimes, it's hard to see where the "justice" is in our justice system.
