As all of you know I was scheduled to be induced at midnight on Monday night/ Tuesday morning. When I showed up at midnight they hooked me up to the monitors and had me sign everything. Much to our surprise I was already having some consistant contractions and had dialated to 2cm I was only 1 at my appt at 2pm that afternoon. They werent painful but were definatly happening. They kept me on the monitor until about 1am to see what was going. The contractions kept on but werent getting any stronger so my dr had the nurses give me 50mg of cytotec. The cytotec started working around 2am but the contractions were not doing anything. I was having a ton of contractions and they were coming in threes. They were only about 40 secs apart and then I wouldnt have any contractions for about 5 mins. At 4:30 am my water broke and they checked me. I was still only 2cm. My blood pressure was about 140/90 and they gave me another dose of nubane. The Dr came in at 6:30 and checked me again I was still only 2cms and wasnt thinning and was in pain but was able to deal with it. They decided to start pitocin at 7:00am. The contractions started to pick up and by 10:00 I was pretty sure something was going on. I didnt feel good and was shivering like crazy. They checked me and I still didnt have any progress. They checked my vitals and my blood pressure was 156/100 The dr called in the order for an epidural. I had no choice at this point as everything was pointing to a c section. Well the anesthesiologist came in with a student. She allowed the student to do everything. They ended up poking me 6 times before they got the epi in. It ended up taking about an hour to get done. Well after the epidural kicked in I was finally able to sleep. At noon they checked my vitals again but they noticed that the baby's heartrate was lower. The stopped the pit and gave me oxygen. They told me that they were going to call OR about a c section at this point I just wanted my baby out safely. They decided to check me and much to everyones surprise I was at 7cm!!!! YEAH Well the oxygen and stopping the pitocin did the trick. Baby was ok my blood pressure was ok. So they told me to lay down and relax and they would be back at 1:00. At 1:00 they checked me I was complete. The called the dr back and at 1:10 they told me to start pushing. I was told that the baby had a full head of dark hair and that I could feel the baby's head if I wanted to. I told the Dr that I didnt want to feel the baby's head because there was too much pressure and all I wanted to do was push. I continued to push and my Dr yelled at me to stop. I stopped pushing and was told to look down and look at my baby. I looked down and saw my baby's head and when I did look down the baby had its eyes wide open and was facing me. All I could say was OH SH!T!! Everyone in the room started laughing at me. One more push and all I heard was my dr the nurse my DH and my best friend say ITS A BOY!!!!! They handed him to me and I started crying my eyes out and kissing him and DH started to cry and then cut the cord. We didnt call anyone for about 2 hours because I wanted time with my little one. I ended up with a very small tear and about three stitches. Jaxon Tyler came into the world at 1:40pm weighing 7 pounds 4.7 ounces he was 19 1/2 inches long. He has no jaudice, he got a 7/8 on his apgar as he did not want to cry. My blood pressure is still slightly elevated so Jaxon and I are staying in the hospital for one more day. Everything with Jaxon is perfect and his Dr was amazed at how alert he is. He is a super breastfeeder. We have not needed any help and he makes sure he eats. He is a very happy baby. I am a very happy mommy. I cant take my eyes of him.
