Actually, a person who shares their faith with you may be the spark that turns you on, and opens you to that divine inspiration. But someone who proseltyzes at work, follows you down the street, hounds you, just ain't sparkin'. In fact, he may be thowing cold water on that spark!

Nope. I only feel spiritually inspired when I'm alone in the woods with nature. Even talking like this makes me cringe. I HATE when people try to save me...I don't know why-I just do NOT want to hear it and as soon as someone starts talking to me about it, I close down on them. I can FEEL it on my own, and I know where to go if I want further education. I don't share my personal beliefs with anyone...I don't want to hear others. ESPECIALLY at work. Or while I'm shopping. Or when people knock on my door.

Never discuss politics, money, or religion in mixed company. That has to be the BEST advise I've ever heard.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Apparently the supervisor I had told had already brought it up with the other guy's manager, and it won't be happening again. Haha- although he found out today while I was in the kitchen getting dinner that I'm pregnant, so maybe me having a baby out of wedlock means that he thinks I need saving even more. Joy.

Chrissy, I am inclined to agree with you. I was raised catholic, and for some reason the tone of most of the "I've got to save you soul" people is that I just haven't been EDUCATED to their ways, and of course if given the proper information, I would kneel to their cause. Ummmm.....you're trying to do what 15 years of Catholic education didn't buddy, so goodluck. It's what other posters have mentioned- there are so many different agendas, all of which believe that they have the only "right" path to god/heaven/whatever. I just watched a documentary called "Jesus Camp", and I was shocked at what could only be considered, by a secularist, to be brainwashing. So, Harry Potter is the devil, and in order to go to heaven you must approach people on the street and "show them the light". It's almost like they get the children out there because it's harder for people to say no- it's frightening.

When it comes to organized religion, I gots no spark- and am perfectly content! I don't understand the arrogance of thinking that my life is lacking in some way because I have a different belief system. I have a roof over my head, food in the fridge, and in a fabulous relationship, have a baby on the way, and am doing work that I enjoy- I am pretty ****** fulfilled. I guess I just resent the notion that someone looks at me as incomplete in some way, just because I don't believe the same thing they do.

Jadis, I hear what you're saying. To shed some light on the other side (not totally agreeing with people coming across arrogant, just shedding light), many Christian people do see a lack in those without Christ because many of us have spent a good part of our lives without a Christian walk. I suppose it's as if I didn't know how empty I used to be until I changed and submitted my life to Christ. I was done feeling a void and wanted more. When I was ready to give up, I sought Christ. You may feel perfectly content how you are. Nobody is in a position to tell you whether you're content or not. I just think this man believed he was doing the right thing but went about it the wrong way and chose the wrong moment. I'm sorry for that because I wouldn't want you to assume all Christians lack tact in how they present Christ.

I totally get what you are saying MJ, but telling someone they are going to hell is really not the way to go about it. I have some experience in this area with my own husband. When we met, he never went to church and wasn't too sure about God because he was never taken to church as a child. The shove it down his throat approach never would have worked. It was a total turn off. What did touch him was watching me over the years. Seeing the affect of Christ in my life and the way I live and treat others was what made him take a second look at religion. I think to draw others to Christ we need to be an example, rather than annoying and preachy and absolutely not trying to scare them to Christ by telling people they will go to hell. His approach is wrong in so many ways and really has the opposite effect for most people.

That is also true of my son. His fiance has followed him to Christianity. Although they are at a catholic college, she was not interested in the zealous approach. He took the time to find out what made her tick, what she believed, share what he believed, dispel some really erroneous ideas she had, and she followed him.

When I picked up my son from Elementary school today there were 2 older men standing on the sidewalk of the school passing out bibles and flyers to the kids. I was really surprised they let them do this as most schools you cannot pray in or even mention God anymore.

Pattie, my husband too was turned off by my "enthusiasm" trying to get him to grow in his faith. The more I pushed, the more he resisted and rebelled. I would pray for him and finally I decided to listen to God. Rather than assuming it was up to me to "save" my dh, I decided to let God be God and I would do my best to live by example. Funny how he gradually came around when I stopped suffocating him .

We do this often in our community to advertise events for our church. It's legal as long as you're not on their property. . .but you can be right smack next to it if you want.

I think people misinterpret when Jesus said to take the good news to the world. Jesus himself didn't bear his soul to every person he came across.

I am a Christian too. I have shared my faith with friends at work but only as religion has come up as the topic of conversation on lunch breaks. They know what I am and if they have questions, they will ask.

This well-meaning gentleman and others like him do more to damage the cause of Christianity than help bring others into it. Another thing that never ceases to amaze me is that they never consider that they are stealing from their employers and harassing co-workers to the point of hatred.

I hope that your conversation with a supervisor helped ease your situation. I also hope you know that not all Christians will try to drag you kicking and screaming to church.
