Default Just Checking

Gabby drinks for between 5 and 10 mins about every 3 hours... she happy and content, lots of nappies and all that, haven't had her properly weigh for a while but i did the weigh me on my scale then with her and she has put on about 1.5 kg (7kg) which is about right... just checking that her feed is about right for her age cos i thought the feeds were suppose to get further apart but stay the same length, roughly, but she seems be the opposite

Throw out your breastfeeding book! If your baby is content and happy, has enough diapers, is growing out of clothes every so often. . .all is well. Babies have not read the books to know what they are "supposed to do" ( and if they did I'm not convinced frankly that they'd cooperate).

Val, my dear, you are my breastfeeding book; well you and the net... most of my question tho come from things my family has told me (before she was born, even after, they were all telling me 20 min feeds every 4 hrs; well Gabby use to want 20 mins, sometimes 30, every 2 to 3 hrs, if i had listen to them she would have been staving)

I am! I am! I guess you can't throw out your friends and family huh?! Send them my way and I'll chat with them! It is generally true that babies will start to go longer and nurse longer. . .so it's not bad advice. But if it ain't broke. . .don't fix it!

i'm already throwing out my family; mum told me that sunday she busted them trying to give Gabby some food... Gabby is really active tho, she wants to run already, so it's like she can't lay there for big feeds so she has enough to full her for just that moment

You know. . .I really find that feeding and sleeping patterns are more indicative of their personalities than they are some environmental factor.

oh my goodness! i cannot even remember the last time Izzy ate for 20 minutes! her longest feeds are first thing in the morning, after she's slept all night --- but they're not 20 minutes long.
