Katelyn is sick
Its the first time in a long time she's been sick like this....actually I don't think it was ever this bad before. Really its just a stuffy/runny nose but its making her cough when she lays down and I have her propped on pillows but she's a rolly polly. I also have the humidifier in her room and I'm a little concerned she'll wake up and see it and tip it over......but what am I to do?? The kid coughs like someone is choking her! I have been trying to use the suction thing for her nose but nothing will come out.

If you can, put the humidifier up on a dresser or table where she can't reach it... It's best if it's close to her but as long as it's in the room it will help. Also, is it one that takes the medicated vicks liquid? That stuff works wonders. To help keep her propped up on the pillows, you can try rolling up towels/blankets, put one on either side of her, and lay a sheet/blanket over all of it so she can't knock it apart (can you tell I've had experience propping a reflux baby lol)... either they'll keep her in place or she'll wander on over them lol. Regardless, it's worth a try... Ummm.... Saline drops for her nose help to loosen things up and clear them out... trying to remember everything the dr said when Damian was sick lol. And I found the nasal suctioner hard to work with too... you have to make sure you have the other nostril completely closed or it just won't work... Yeah, that's sooo easy with a small child lol.
Anywho, that's all I can think of... I hope she's feeling better soon -- and agreed with Sophie, if she's running a fever, take her in!

She did but she was also getting a new tooth in. Right now she doesn't have one but this is driving me nuts. I was up all night with her last night trying to keep her sleeping sitting up because every time she was even slightly reclined she'd start choking and then she'd cry (assuming because it hurt and was scary for her) Her doc won't be there till tomorrow and I'm not sure if I'll make it another night with no sleep. I feel so bad for her.

yeah we were both wrestling with her at the same time to do her nose....wasn't too successful and then we had to team up against her again to try to get her to take motrin for her fever but that ended up on the floor too....
and we do have the vicks one and used the stuff with it and propped her up and she still coughed because I couldn't get her to sleep upright enough with out falling forward...it was frusterating
Thank you for all the good suggestions

Awww, poor munchkin... and poor mommy too lol. If she's having that much trouble, just to be safe you probably should bring her in tomorrow to get checked out, fever or no fever. Hopefully she has a better night tonight, for both your sakes!

take a hot shower, or just turn on the hot water in the bathroom---sit her in there for at least 15 mins ( not the tub, just in the room) the steam should break some of it up....before you leave the bathroom use the sucker....even saline drops if you can hold her down long enough to get them in! Jae used to get sick just like this whenever one of her teeth came in...can you see where it is gonna break through at? I used to take the tylenol/motrin and rub it on the spot before making her swallow it...massaging the gums there feels good, plus the pain reliever sinks in a little better (at least i thought so haha) good luck and hopefully she feels better soon!

I don't really know whats up with her nose. I used the saline drops (acutally got them in this time) and had her sit on the potty and sing and pretend to use the potty while I ran the hot water in the bath and it got all steamy and I suctioned her nose and she actually let me after having a talk about how mommy was going to do it and she might as well cooperate with me....(I actually think she's so sleepy she can't resist anymore) BUT nothing came out when I did it! There is stuff up in there....I guess its way up in there though. When she sneezes yucky stuff comes out and when she coughs it comes out too and only coughing while laying down. So she's in bed so far tonight and hopefully she stays there tonight. I am so tired. I decided to try vicks vapor rub to go along with the other stuff I've been doing...Not sure if it even has anything to do with her problems though and I got her to take motrin alothough I'm not sure if she has a fever because I couldn't get a temp.............I know her doc is gonna ask bout the fever and not understand why I can't get a temp out of her but her doc wants **** temps only and Katelyn is very against that..I'm lucky if I can get a new diaper on her when I change her before she runs away. I swear I'm wrestling a alligator all day long.
