Default Kaydee was at the ER

This was the easiest ER visit I have ever been through. Kaydee got a horrible cough and lost her voice almost completely. It is so sad and pathetic sounding when she tries to make any noise. I called her ped this morning because she was running a fever and crying a whole lot. She told me to take her to the ER (she didnt have office hours today) because she was afraid that with her asthma it wasnt going to be good.

So I took her in, and they placed us in a room within 10 mins I was so surprised! A doctor came in right away and checked her breathing...her lungs were clear but Kaydee was still having a hard time breathing normal.

She is on a steriod for 5 days to open her airways better (this may be a more lasting thing then the nebulizer treatments too!)The doc said she has a pretty bad case of asthma for how young she is We were out of there within an hour...it was amazing

Hopefully she gets better soon!!

i hope the steriods help!! do you think her asthma is related to being a premie and lung development? i don't know anything on either subject.. just kinda a shot in the dark.

Glad the trip was quick!

Did you by any chance go to Holy Redeemer? They are ALWAYS speedy quick! Glad she is doing better. CeJay had asthma, for like a year, it was weird.. Hopefully she'll grow out of hers!

We actually went right down to St. Chris's. She is already in their system because of the tubes (thats where she had the surgery) The docs were SO nice! She barely slept last night...and i can tell her throat is bothering her, poor thing.

Hope she feels better soon. My mom said my brother had really bad asthma as a baby/child and she spent about 1-2 times a month in the ER. But he no longer has any issues with his asthma! He was also allergic to everything, milk, strawberries, fish, certain kinds of nuts, certain types grass, dust mites, and cats. So hopefully it gets better for Kaydee too. Has she ever had any allergy testing? Once we found out what was triggering my brothers asthma things got a lot better because he could avoid the allergies. I don’t think they did the allergy testing until he was a little older though.

I come from a small town so it astonishes me that you guys have to wait in the ER. I have never had to wait except for the on call Dr to arrive (10 min max) but if you call the ER prior to coming in the Dr usually arrives before you get there.
